Laserlab Europe - The Integrated Initiative of European Laser Laboratories
Kmetík, Viliam ; Bachárová, L.
PALS is a member of the LASERLAB Europe consortium from 2004, as one of 17 original laser laboratories from 9 EU countries. LASERLAB EU is from beginning focused on cooperation of excellent laser research facilities by support of science via ERA - European Research Activities. In 6-th Framework Programme of EU, LASERLAB successfully fulfilled all goals and continuing project is included in 7-th Framework Programme. Currently LASERLAB EU II includes 26 laser infrastructures, 13 subcontractors a 6 associates from 19 EU countries including International Laser Center in Bratislava. ILC participates on the project by establishing of a biofotonic infrastructure and is responsible for education of users. Primary goal of LASERLAB Europe is strengthening of the leading role of Europe in laser research through Transnational Access, JRA - Joint Research Activities and Networking Activities.

Laser interference nano-comparator for length sensor calibration in nanometric scale
Číp, Ondřej ; Mikel, Břetislav ; Čížek, Martin ; Šmíd, Radek ; Buchta, Zdeněk ; Lazar, Josef
In the work we present new laser measuring system for precise calibrations of length measuring transducers. This gauge is called nano-comparator because the resolution of the positioning of the measuring probe is in order of nanometers. The gauge works fully self-controlled and it is equipped by control software which is able to calibrate wide area of transducers. We put main stress to compensating of thermal dilatation of the gauge body and to eliminating of imperfection of linear guide ways which are used for positioning of the testing probe of the gauge. The work presents the first records of scale calibration of an incremental transducer.
Exploze drátku ve vodě
Prukner, Václav ; Koláček, Karel ; Schmidt, Jiří ; Frolov, Oleksandr ; Štraus, Jaroslav
The paper reports on the first experimental results of a new-built apparatus which is designed as soft X-ray source of coherent radiation with wavelength 14 nm. The radiation could be produced by the wire explosion in a liquid where the proximity of liquid wall can stabilize plasma similarly as proximity of solid wall stabilizes a Z-pinch in a capillary. The first part of this paper describes construction of the new device. In the second part are published first experimental data of wire explosion tests of the device which means time dependences of charging voltage and current.
Nová diagnostika pomocí Thomsonova rozptylu pro tokamak COMPASS
Aftanas, Milan ; Bělský, Petr ; Böhm, Petr ; Weinzettl, Vladimír ; Brotánková, Jana ; Barth, R. ; van der Meiden, H.
The COMPASS tokamak, originally from UKAEA, Culham laboratory, U.K., will be reinstalled at Institute of Plasma Physics, Prague. The scientific programme is focused mainly on the investigation of the edge plasma region with high temperature and density gradients called pedestal. Many innovations will be done and new diagnostics have to be constructed. One of the key diagnostics is an incoherent Thomson scattering for measurements of electron temperature Te and density ne with a high spatial resolution. Several construction options are considered. In this paper a possibility of using a Nd:YAG laser in combination with a detection system based on Avalanche Photodiodes is discussed.
Nová diagnostika pomocí Thomsonova rozptylu pro tokamak COMPASS
Brotánková, Jana ; Bělský, Petr ; Weinzettl, Vladimír ; Böhm, Petr
The COMPASS tokamak is being re-installed at IPP Prague after its transfer from Culham, U.K. Within the innovation, new diagnostics will be constructed, including a High Resolution Thomson Scattering System measuring electron temperature (Te) and electron density (ne) profiles. Scientific programme of the COMPASS tokamak is focused on the pedestal studies, thus the main stress will be laid on the edge part of the system.
Využití modelových spekter ke stanovení vhodných parametrů kapilárního výboje pro zesílenou emisi Balmerova alfa – přechodu H–like N (13,4 nm)
Štraus, Jaroslav ; Koláček, Karel ; Schmidt, Jiří ; Frolov, Oleksandr ; Prukner, Václav
Our capillary-discharge driver CAPEX-U, as many other pulsed-power devices, requires very accurate triggering of high-voltage gas switch. Laser-triggered switches offer many advantages over electrical triggered ones in terms of reproducibility, reliability, suitability for multi-gap or multi-channel operation and electrical isolation from the main high-voltage pulse. Results on the simultaneous initiation of four-channel high voltage spark gap by a neodymium dopped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd:YAG, λ=1064 nm) laser are presented. The switch is pressurised with SF6 and N2 and holds off voltage about 500 kV at a gap separation of 13 mm. Electrical parameters of the spark channels are obtained from the comparison of experimental and modelling (equivalent circuit) results.
Workplace for stabilization of laser frequency
Buchta, Zdeněk
This paper describes a new appliance for demonstration of frequency stabilization of a laser diode. That is an original solution which is appointed for hands-on teaching students of optoelectronic courses. The arrangement consists of a laser diode driver, temperature controller and driver for the photodetector.
