Charakter komoditní vertikály řepky olejné
Dohnal, Štěpán
This bachelor thesis deals with the description of rapeseed commodity chain in the conditions of the Czech Republic. The commodity chain is defined based on specialised literature and available statistical data. The thesis deals with the cultivation development of this crop with a focus on factors that determine this development. Thesis defines the usage in the the processing industry and shows the causes of high utilization of this crop over past years. Moreover, it defines the price development of this commodity. Rapeseed is an important export commodity and that is why the development of foreign trade with rapeseed and its products is defined in the final part. Based on the analyses it was found out that the Czech Republic is one of the biggest producers of rapeseed in the European Union. One of the main reasons of its expansion on the Czech fields is its usage for producing the biofuels.

Measurement and toxicity of combustion generated nanoparticles
Sikorová, Jitka ; Topinka, Jan (advisor) ; Klusoň, Petr (referee) ; Bláha, Luděk (referee)
This thesis is focused on nanoparticles produced by internal combustion engines utilized in vehicles. It deals with spatial distribution of nanoparticles within urban areas, impact of alternative fuels usage on particle production and toxicity, and a particle toxicological testing methodology. Monitoring of airborne nanoparticles identified traffic as the main source of airborne nanoparticles in places with heavy traffic load (Prague), as well as in a small city with only local traffic (Čelákovice). Most particles were likely emitted during short episodes of high emissions (e.g. uphill acceleration). During the measurements, high-emission vehicles responsible for a large fraction of the air pollution were also identified. On the other hand, small non-road internal combustion engines, which are not subject to any limit on particle emissions, such as a lawn mower, were operated during the measurement and generated a large number of nanoparticles. The amount and characteristics of the particles produced by combustion depend on the combustion technology and the fuel composition. A large part of the thesis deals with alternative fuels and their effects on the quantity of produced particles and toxicity of organic matter adsorbed on the particles. Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) exhibited the lowest...

Energy yields per one hectare of land in the South Moravian Region
Plášek, Tomáš ; Bayer, Robert (referee) ; Jandová, Kristýna (advisor)
This bachelor thesis compares methods of producing elektricity in biogas plant, in thermal power plants by burning biomass, in solar power plants and compares it with production of energy of fuel cells and the energy from biofuels, like biodiesel and bioethanol. It compares the energy yields of different energy production methods and evaluates their advantages and disadvantages. It compares the energy content of these fuels by model vehicle range.

Biofuels-economical and ecological impact
Kalous, Václav ; Janda, Karel (advisor) ; Herman, Dominik (referee)
Bachelor's Thesis Proposal Institute of Economic Studies Faculty of Social Sciences Charles University in Prague Author's name and surname: Václav Kalous E-mail: vaclavkalous1@gmail.com Phone: 731214182 Supervisor's name: prof. Ing. Karel Janda, M.A., Dr., Ph.D. Supervisor's email: Karel-Janda@seznam.cz Notes: Please enter the information from the proposal to the Student Information System (SIS) and submit the proposal signed by yourself and by the supervisor to the Academic Director ("garant") of the undergraduate program. Proposed Topic: Biofuels- economic and ecological impact. Preliminary scope of work: Research question and motivation The issue of provision of energy for the vast population of planet Earth remains one of the biggest challenges for the humankind today. Sources such as fossil fuels are limited and will be depleted one day, so it is evident that we must seek for renewable resources to provide for our everyday needs. Even though complete depletion of fossil fuels is still quite far away, new energy resources are already on the scene. This is mainly due to environmental reasons, because fossil fuels are in fact believed to be the worst possibility from the ecological point of view. One of the frequently used renewable resources are biofuels, however these are subject to controversy because...

Cultivation of hemp Cannabis sativa L. for biogas production: methodology for practice
Honzík, Roman ; Bjelková, Marie ; Muňoz, Jaime ; Váňa, Vojtěch
The basic aim of the methodology is to provide farmers, agricultural advisors, providers of biogas plants and anyone others the basic information about growing and processing for biogas a prospective crop - hemp Cannabis sativa L. Up to now, a comprehensive methodology for cultivation and utilization of this crop for biogas production is not processed. The publication provides basic botanical characteristics of the crop, specifies its soil and ecological habitat requirements, describes the agricultural technologies for seeding, cultivation, fertilization, plant protection, harvesting and post-harvest ensiling and gives an overview of potential yields of biomass and biogas, especially methane including their economic evaluation.

The Evolution of Public Opinions on the Development of Biofuels in Southeast Asia
Vosmíková, Alžběta ; Jančák, Vít (advisor) ; Janoušek, Zbyněk (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the change of opinions on selected problems, which have occurred during the last decade in connection with biofuels. The main question at hand is whether the form of discussion on the topics below may be related to the development of world biodiesel consumption. Attention is focused specifically on palm oil biodiesel. Two countries - Indonesia and Malaysia - were selected as the model area. The thesis deals with the issue of the relation of palm oil biodiesel and the environment on the example of the emission of greenhouse gases into the air. It also addresses the evolution of changes in opinions on small farmers, whose relation to environment is significantly different. Finally, the work evaluates the relationship of the society to biofuels and specifically to palm oil biodiesel. Keywords: Biofuels, biodiesel, palm oil, emissions, Indonesia, Malaysia.
