Rainfall-runoff regime in the headwater part of the Bystřice River basin
Šedivá, Kateřina ; Jeníček, Michal (advisor) ; Hladíková, Alice (referee)
Rainfall-runoff regime in the headwater part of the Bystřice River Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with the rainfall-runoff regime and analysis of extreme situations in the headwater part of the Bystřice River basin. At first, the area of interest is described in physical and geographical terms and the influences of individual factors on the runoff are mentioned. The text content is documented by maps. The characteristic of rainfall-runoff regime is evaluated by means of runoff variability parameters. The variability is assessed by means of collected data using charts illustrating exceedance probability of average daily discharges in years 2009 and 2010. The flow variations are evaluated on the basis of decile deviations. The distribution of monthly discharges in the Bystřice River is displayed and the monthly flow variability is described in pie graphs separately for hydrological years 2009 and 2010. The monthly balance of the runoff is also evaluated by means of statistical measures of Kr and Cv coefficients. Finally, the runoff regime evaluation is completed with exceedance probability calculation of the mean annual discharge. The assessment of selected extreme events forms an important part of the thesis. Extreme situations are compared with synoptic situations; it contributes to explain causal...

Relationship among moisture flux anomalies, extreme precipitation, and floods in central Europe
Gvoždíková, Blanka
Floods associated with extreme precipitation are one of the most serious natural hazards, which produce substantial human and socio-economic losses in central Europe. One way to reduce the impact of flooding is by increasing preparedness with better flood forecasts and warnings, which is not possible without a proper understanding of physical processes leading to a flood hazard. However, frequent research on floods in relation to causal precipitation and synoptic conditions is usually carried out regionally, although some events often affect areas of a size of entire countries or even larger. The thesis was focused exactly on these large-scale precipitation and flood events that occurred in the second half of the 20th century and then until 2013, for which the size of the affected area is as crucial in the extremity assessment as the magnitude of flood discharges or precipitation totals. The extremity indices used for the assessment of extreme precipitation and flood events connected both aspects. The larger area of interest defined within central Europe allowed examining the spatial structure of events, the differences between them, and their relation to conditions in the atmosphere. To connect the extremes of precipitation with extremes in atmospheric conditions, the causal circulation was...

Small water reservoirs in the Krkonoše Mountains: What would their regeneration bring?
Šádková, Eva ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Daňhelka, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the evaluation of influence of small water reservoirs on the extreme runoff events (floods and drought) in the upper Úpa River basin. It summarizes knowledge about both hydrological extremes and their manifestations in the basin of interest as well as about small water reservoirs in the sense of water retention measures and their possible importance during the periods of low flows or floods. In this thesis two localities of possible reservoirs at place of former splash dams in Obří důl and on the Lysečinský Brook were chosen. To assess the influence of small water reservoirs on runoff during two chosen flood events and two periods of drought, the hydrological model HEC-HMS was applied. The results of model simulation proved a positive influence of reservoirs on the reduction of flood peaks (except for a concurrence of transformed flood waves in the outlet that occurred during one flood event), but the effect was decreasing with the increasing catchment area and the intensity of precipitation and with smaller storage capacity of a reservoir. During the low flows, a positive influence of reservoirs was observed as well, relating to the release of stored water. However, the ability of a reservoir to reduce deficit volume and to balance the flow was decreasing with smaller...
Design of water reservoir for flood protection
Vláčil, Lukáš ; Holomek, Michal (referee) ; Paseka, Stanislav (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to map an anti-flooding protection in locality Dobrá Voda near Hořice and to create suitable plan of a water retention reservoir. Retention reservoir works as a system for holding and transformation of flood wave and thus for dealing with floods. First part of this thesis covers general description of issues of floods, current legislature, anti-flooding measures and a description of flood wave transformation. Methods for determination of retention seepage of the reservoir are described in this part as well. Computer programmes (HEC-RAS, Transformwave) were used for the purpose of above mentioned determination. In the second part of this thesis the given locality is described including all the possible risks and plans of convenient anti-flooding measures. The results of appropriate software determinations are compared in this part of the thesis as well. A final plan of a suitable retention reservoir is based on the results of comparison.
Studie stávající protipovodňové ochrany na vybrané lokalitě v povodí Moravy
Prchlá, Zuzana
The thesis Study of existing flood protection at the selected location in the Morava river basin deals with the issue of flood control measures and includes also sociological research. It describes the specific situation in the village Moravičany and the town of Olomouc. The monitored municipalities were affected by floods repeatedly, the worst in 1997. Since this critical year, various flood control measures have been implemented to protect the municipalities from overflowing water.
Studie návrhu suché nádrže v k. ú. Vizovice
Hašpica, Radek
The diploma thesis is focused on the study of the possible creation of dry tank for flood protection in cadastral territory Vizovice. The first part of the thesis consists of literary research of given issues and analysis of the territory. Then the assessment of the outflows from the point of view of the potential threat to the intravilan by the current watercourses and the concentrated surface runoff is developed, taking into account mainly the rainfall from torrential floods. The result is the design of a suitable dry tank location, a detailed analysis of the catchment basin, the calculation of the peak flow and the components of the analysis of the soil samples.
Mapování protipovodňových opatření města Otrokovice
Raschmann, Gabriel
In my bachelor thesis on the topic of mapping flood measures in the City of Otrokovice. I worked on problems related to flood measures. I also named the floods which hit the territory of city Otrokovice in the past. I will also list the possible measures and their breakdowns according to various criteria. I briefly characterized the territory that concerns my bachelor thesis.
