The role of a social worker in the protection of human rights
REMEŠOVÁ, Lenka
The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out the role of a social worker defending human rights from the perspective of a team leader, and from the perspective of social workers. I am going to compare the differences between the team leader and social workers´ perspectives. I am also going to find out how the social worker's role changes within the context of the provided service. This bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part there are laws protecting human rights, an explanation of the term "role" from a social work's prospective, and also a definition of the term "social work" and basic terms connected with it. In the practical part of the bachelor thesis I have chosen qualitative research. I collected the data via a half-structured interview with 4 bosses of organisations providing social services and with 6 social workers from these facilities. The different amounts are caused by the fact that in some of the facilities I interviewed only social workers because the leaders were busy. One of the leaders work also like social worker, but in the research, he is considered like a leader. I also decided to talk to workers providing the service of social care, prevention and consulting. In the conclusion not only the difference of a social worker and team leader's and between social workers perspective of human rights will be visible, but also differences in various social services. The results have shown that the social worker is allowed to take many roles and is on the edge between helping and controlling the clients while protecting human rights. These roles were different in other social services and the emphasis at the importance of specific human rights was different as well. The conformity was proved by the social workers and team leaders from identical services. The results of my work may be useful for the public expansion of knowledge of human rights problematic in social work. It can show variety of provided social services in the Czech Republic as well. It can provide view on the role of the social worker while protecting human rights in the context of different types and forms of provided social services to professional public.

Social Ethical Aspects of Welfare State
GALÍKOVÁ, Alice
Diploma paper is considering social ethical aspects of Welfare State. In the introduction is characterized Welfare State, it´s history, attitudes to it and the elementary typology of social state. The main part of the paper is divided into three parts - human being, family and state in relation to social state. Each chapter consists of describing part and social ethical critic of Welfare State effect, which was the aim of paper. From all three angles on that issue it appears that negative influence of contemporary (that means overinflated) is dominant. First of all it´s loss of responsibility for persnons own life, loss of motivation to work, own initiative and creativity and creating dependence on social benefits. There is obvious fundamental negative effect on family functionality, which social roles was mostly taken by state. Constant increasing of social benefits outgoings in exchange for political support of left-wing parties appears as destructive. This fact could eventually endanger democratic growth of state.

Attitudes of Czechia and Slovakia towards the forced sterilization of Roma women in comparative perspective
Slaninová, Lucie ; Klípa, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kolenovská, Daniela (referee)
The bachelor thesis is a comparative two-cases study that compares approaches of Czechia and Slovakia towards forced sterilizations of Roma women that was taking place on their territory during several decades. Sterilization is a medical intervention disabling a human reproduction. Sterilizations were set in the seventies in the former Czechoslovakia in accordance with an eugenics ideology of controlling public reproduction and influencing quality of the society. Ongoing differencies between major society and Roma people lasted for centuries in spite of many attempts to assimilate Roma people and that is the reason why Roma women were the target. However, controlling reproduction of population is violation of human rights. For this reason, both countries had to accept apropriate restrictions. The sterilization policy was ignored for a long time, although complaints and activities of victims started to appear at the beginning of this century. All the speaking victims together with many nongovernmental organizations tried to obtain a compensation for victims of this unlawful policy of forced sterilizations. Therefore, state authorities of both countries started to act. First of all, Slovakia started interrogation as a consequence of a report "Body and Soul" in 2003. A new act of health care providing...
Patterns of democracy and human rights - An analysis of the relationship between changes in democracy and human rights at the European Court of Human Rights
D'Andrea, Giada ; Lipovský, Milan (advisor) ; Plechanovová, Běla (referee)
Since the very beginning, the European Court of Human Rights has suffered from a systemic issue: case overload. And despite the continuous reforms of the Convention system, a final solution seems still quite far from being achieved. Despite the focus of researchers and practitioners on this topic, few have investigated the relationship between the internal mechanisms of the states and their consequences on the backlog of the Court. This thesis offers insights over the relationship between the democratic status of a country and the proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights. It analyses the development of the Court from 1959 until 2021, finding that the reforms put in place by the Court along the years seem to have sorted only a minor effect in reducing the backlog of applications. Second, the panel study between 2000 and 2021 revealed that the democratic status of a country has a significant and negative relationship with the number of applications per capita filed to the Court. Lastly, the qualitative study shows the lack of a clear pattern among the democratic score of a country and the type of violations committed. However, through this last method a new pattern appears. There seems to be a negative relationship between the democratic score of a country and the share of violations...
