Theoretic part of thesis deals with finding the mutual relations between the history of the 20th century clothing with wiew on combination of clothes, rituals and art. Didactic part offers a preview of current social rituals, through children's artistic perception, of which we may experience in life and personally reflect. In the practical section, through creation of a unique garment, thesis examine the possibilitie of understanding of clothing as a work of art and it's dual usage.

Clothes Make the Man: Dress as a Medium of Meanings

In this thesis the meanings given by students to dress are examined. Then, these meanings are compared to those discussed in sociological literature dealing with dress and fashion. Dress is not only a protection of body against unpleasant weather but also a medium for meanings related to the wearer of the dress. Through a dress it is possible to express social status, social role, hobbies, opinions, membership in various groups and also lifestyle. Clothing and fashion are strongly associated with young people because the fashion is made for them and they contribute to its creation. For adolescents dress is a matter of particular importance because it enables them not only to express, but also to build their identity and thus reach adulthood. Dress has also an important role in our relations to other people. The analysis of interviews with students resulted in the finding that meanings given to dress by students are similar to those discussed in sociological literature. For interviewed students it is important to have a freedom to wear, what they want, because it enables them to be themselves. The findings from interviews rather contradict Simmel's assumption because a fashion is considered by interviewed students as uniform, while originality is located outside the fashion. The Uniform of the Red Army: Military Attire of the Ranks and the NCOs 1936 - 1946

(in English): Second World War is a very well researched conflict favoured by historians and non-professional enthusiasts alike. Despite its popularity even this subject leaves many areas blank. Areas which were either completely omitted by researches or not studied thoroughly enough. One of these areas is a production technology of Red Army military uniforms. The aim of the thesis is not to merely describe the patterns of military uniforms but to outline the subject with regard to textile industry and chemistry (dyeing). After the critical evaluation of accessible information thesis was based exclusively upon primary sources - manufacturing instructions of the period and specialized literature. All secondary sources were deliberately excluded. The findings proved that specific manufacturing instruction of the period enables the researcher to produce virtually any garment. At the same time established deficiencies are not insolvable. The question which shade of khaki was used in dyeing fabric for uniforms still remains unanswered. A lot of facts established in discipline of textile materials and textile colours are contradictory to generally accepted image of the Read Army soldier which has been formed by cinematography and secondary literature for decades.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is an overview of the basic Italian vocabulary used in the area of clothing and accessories. The thesis deals with elements of composition of Italian vocabulary and word-forming processes that are used in this terminology. It briefly describes the italian vocabulary of specific historical period and extensively describes contemporary vocabulary of clothes and vocabulary in the area of sport.

Light reflective attributes of selected materials

The article is a summary of the partial specific research project, conducted at the IFE BUT in order to verify properties of selected light reflective and fluorescent materials and their properties compared with those obtained with conventional clothing materials on the Czech market. This article summarizes the results of laboratory measurements of selected attributes of light on a series of samples, including reflective materials used in the clothing industry, warning garments for various promotional articles, while the most commonly used materials and colors for outerwear. The laboratory measurements were carried out, among other things, measurement of diffuse and specular components, which is important for the visibility of these elements. Following this measurement will be carried out practical measurements under different lighting conditions. The aim of the research is to show the fundamental difference in visibility casual dress walkers in poor visibility compared to clothing, fitted with reflective materials. The result of the project after its completion, it should be recommendations for the selection and placement of reflective elements for pedestrians, moving in poor visibility over the road, both in terms of color and size, and in terms of the location to the best possible visibility.

People and water. A contribution to the history of personal hygiene in the turn of the 19th and 20th century

This dissertation deals with not fully explored area of daily life, a personal hygiene. The main period which this work dwells on is the turn of the 19th and 20th century but sometimes I need to go further to the past when the fundamentals of the personal hygiene were laid. The work tries to devone the conditions of the hygiene which were influenced by sociocultural as well as scientific and technical factors. It also studies the personal hygiene including care of body, hair, teeth, cosmetics and body scent alike. Among these topics belong linen and clothes. One of the highlighted aims is revealing the function of spas (especially modern balneology) and up-and-coming physical education and sport in the increasing standarts of the personal hygiene. The heuristic base is composed of contemporary specialized literature and press as well as memoirs and encyclopeadias.
