Lebedová, Veronika ; Pudlák, Štěpán (advisor) ; Řehořová, Irena (referee)
The thesis deals with the polarization of Czech media landscape after 2013 as a discursive construct. Our topic is the emergence of new media projects, responding to the takeover of MAFRA by Andrej Babis. Three of these are being discussed: Echo24.cz, Reportér and Neovlivní.cz. The thesis aims to describe the discourse of the alternative media, its own representation in current situation. The subject is based on several concepts. First of them is the theory of social responsibility, which is a strong social value despite being quite questionable. Then, we discuss the trend of media ownership concentration and the development of Czech media after 1989, which has come to important changes, such as the change of the overall model of media ownership and the polarization of the media landscape itself. The first part of the thesis serves as a contextual background for the critical discourse analysis. The analysis verifies the hypothesis as follows: Alternative media is defined in opposition to the mainstream and uses the arguments based on the principles of the social responsibility theory to represent its own position, goals and interests. As a result, we found out, that the new projects construct an opposition us versus them as independence versus oligarchization. At the same time, the principles of...
White
Rosinová, Liana
The identity of modern architecture seems inseparable from the whiteness of its surfaces. But why white? Why do we surround ourselves with white walls? The doctoral thesis deals with the phenomenon of white as a framework for portraying the social and cultural development of whiteness throughout history. It outlines a new critical interpretation of the privileging of the colour white in architecture, which distorts the image of white as the peak of purity, morality, evolution, sublime, silence, etc. The main body of the text is devoted to the ideas and performances of selected historical facts and figures like asceticism of J. J. Winckelmann, Le Corbusier´s Law of Ripolin, elimination of ornament of A. Loos, white supremacy of A. Ozenfant, or B. Mussolini´s bleached Rome that address the issue of white. The task continues on the academic research which examines the social construction of the „white race“ as possessing a privileged social status in reference to race, gender, sexual orientation, class, and to a fact, that modern architecture was never simply white. Overleaf, white is somewhere between. It is connected to birth and death at the same time. White looks like the deadlock after erasing of all degenerated, and sometimes as a stimulus for imagination and more sensitive perception. In such a dichotomy of white we have created a presumption of looking at the white from assertoric or aletheic gaze. It means the narrow, intolerant, and dogmatic attitude on the one hand, and contextual, incorporated, and democratic on the other hand. The text also takes some viewpoints on the topic of whiteness to gauge the current understanding of white. The aim is to explore cultural-historical-social preference of white, and depending on the results of research to formulate the meaning of white.
City, Sea, Chicken, Building - Theoretical Framework and Contents of Teachingin the Seminar “Modern Theories of Development and Urban Planning”
Březovská, Markéta
City, sea, chicken, house. Can we teach the modern theory of urbanism according to established rules and patterns? As we do it with noun declension neuter? Shouldn’t we rather reflect contemporary practices and new emerging tendencies? My paper describes a new seminar initiated by the Ústav navrhování V, taught in the winter term of 2011/1012 by my colleague Jan Kristek and myself and under the supervision of Karel Havliš. The seminar Modern Development and Theories of Urbanism carried a subtitle City: Growth, Ideology, Power and Violence. Its objective was to acquaint students with the theory of our field, the relations between cities and technology, economy and politics, with various approaches to urban planning, ideologies, urban growth and problems of cities since the first industrial revolution until today. Part of the course was a reflection of the interdisciplinary discourse - students had to read, understand and represent texts written by experts of different professional backgrounds, all dealing with cities: sociology, economics, geography, philosophy, urban anthropology or cultural ethnography. We aimed to teach students to think critically, argue correctly, and independently express their opinion in matters of urban planning theory, regardless of established patterns. My paper explains the theoretical framework of the seminar, its concrete content and affects on the processing of myown dissertation. My colleague Jan Kristek elaborates the methodology.

CHMEL, Matěj
The theme of the Bachelor thesis is The principles of the social justice and its reflection among the university students is a contribution to social justice, to one of the principles of the modern social politics. The social justice is a very complex notion and one of the conditions of the legitimacy of the government effecting the social politics of the state and its positive attitude to the principles of the social politics, which are accented by the society. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into 5 subheads. In the third subhead is deeper focus on social justice in the context of particular ideologies. The fourth describes social justice in the Czech Republic and the last deals with social justice in education. I chose qualitative research strategy using the method of substituting. As a data collecting technique I chose a semi-structured interview. The conception of the interview consisted of 20 questions, which correlated with the theoretical treatises and were adjusted so as to achieve the selected goal. With the help of the purposeful selection were chosen 10 communication partners, while 5 of them were students of economics field and 5 were students of specialization in helping profession. The main goal was to find out how the students interpret the principle of social justice in the context of social policy. This main goal was followed by 3 sub-goals. The first sub-goal has to find out how students interpret the principle of permission. The second sub-goal has to find out how students interpret the principle of equality of results. The last sub-goal was finding out what principles of social justice students prefer in educational policy. For the research were set 2 research questions. 1. What factors influence students in interpretation of social justice? 2. What is the relationship between studying university and interpretation of social justice? The results show that students most frequently emphasize the model solid bottom and open ceiling and principle of permission in context of heritage. Respondents in educational policy put most emphasis on the principle of equality of opportunity, which is from their perspective reinforced by the principle of equality of results, meritocratic principle and principle to each according to merit. Influence of studying field was evident especially in principle of equality of results, where communication partners studying study focused on helping profession interpreted this principle positively than communicating partners who are studying economic fields. This thesis could serve as a tool for students to understand the whole complexity of social justice and as basis for any discussion in the lectures and seminars connected to social policy. complexity of social justice and as basis for any discussion in the lectures and seminars connected to social policy.

The theme of communism in the current school education program
JUKLOVÁ, Tereza
Diploma thesis - The theme of communism in the current school education program - is dealing partly with defining the basic concepts such as ideology, totalitarianism, socialism, communism or nazism. The individual terms are characterized on the basis of specialized literature and basic information about them is provided. It also concentrates on the theme of the Russian Revolution and its impact on the development of communism in Europe. Furthermore, the work provides evidence of how insufficient is the theme of communism in civic education lessons in primary schools currently discussed. Although there are also modern civic education textbooks published in recent years, the topic of communism appears there only occasionally. As for the websites that can be used for processing of this topic, pages of General educational program or program One World in Schools can be used. These, however, provide materials only, and it is up to the teachers to decide how to use them in lessons of civic education when discussing this topic. The practical part consists of the actual learning program that is broken down by lessons. The conclusion is accompanied by all the necessary attachments. Based on the application of the program in practice it was found that students in the program understood the basic information and also appreciated working with modern technology in the teaching. It is also shown that the program was successfully implemented in practice.
