Ovsak, Artem ; Žalmanová, Petra (referee) ; Boleslavská, Yvona (advisor)
The subject of the master's thesis was the development of an architectural study and proposal for the new utilization of historical buildings in the Porta Coeli complex in Předklášteří near Tišnov. The complex consists of several buildings, but the focus of the work was on the key ones. Currently, three sisters reside in the monastery, utilizing the first and second quadratures and having access to the monastery garden. The third quadrature is used by volunteer groups who assist in the maintenance of the monastery and occasionally contribute to the production of local products such as must, preserves, and honey. One floor of this quadrature has already been reconstructed. In the future, the space of the former laundry is planned to be utilized as accommodation for employees, with a change in its function to a production area being implemented as part of the project. The former sheepfold will be transformed into a multifunctional space intended for various types of events. Currently serving as a sawmill, it is economically most advantageous for the monastery council. The reconstructed former granary will have accommodation functions, and its location near the water increases its attractiveness and generates investment interest in its reconstruction. The design also includes the placement of an amphitheater on the slope next to the granary and sheepfold. The utilization concept shows that these two structures will be closely interconnected, and the amphitheater, along with the modified space, will serve as a meeting place for various events, such as weddings, conferences, or celebrations. An important aspect is that the shape of the amphitheater will follow the slope, helping to perceive the space, surroundings, and allowing visitors an uninterrupted view of nature. As part of the work, an extension to the second quadrature was also proposed, intended to serve the staff of a future rehabilitation center. The concept focuses on utilizing the second quadrature as a rehabilitation center for athletes and ordinary visitors. The center includes short-term accommodation, a dining area, medical offices, and facilities for the staff. The connection with nature, peaceful location, and aesthetic and mental harmony contribute to the faster recovery of visitors. The former carriage house is currently used as sanitary facilities, while most of the building remains unused. Preliminary plans consider its future use either as a smaller production space or as a storage facility for the purposes of the museum and the monastery. An extensive intervention in the restoration of the forecourt of the former sheepfold will be carried out. Various elements will be placed here, such as a labyrinth and other recreational zones. The design also included modifications to the outdoor space, the creation of new parking capacities, and reinforced surfaces.

The aim of this master’s thesis is to elaborate an architectural study with design of restoration and renewal of formal Augustinian monastery in city of Šternberk. Rearrangement of adjacent exterior spaces are also included in this proposal. The proposed concept is based on requirements and initiatives gained from current owners and wardens, who whish to revitalize the monastery into center culture and education with connection to accommodation and dinning possibilities, also small brewery is included. In my design of restoration of this monastery I take account of owner’s wishes and even extend the possibilities which this place offers. The main function and utilization of this place is considered as cultural and educational center, as it also served this purpose in past. It is crucial that this place is more open and permeable for free movement of people, where they can relax and spend their free time. The building of the monastery is conceived as multifunctional with spaces for organizing cultural and social events, galleries, hostel, free time center, restaurant, cafeteria, small brewery and underground pub. Currently the areas around the monastery do not allow free access and passage to the wide public. With proposed new entrances into the monastery grounds from north, east and west sides the proposed area is more permeable and the connection between historic center and east side of the city is elaborated.

Valentová, Alžběta ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis was the preparation of an architectural study and proposal for a new use of part of the historical buildings of the monastery in Šternberk. The study deals with a complex of buildings that form an enclosed courtyard and two wings extending south into the garden. On the other side, the complex adjoins the cloister with the Garden of Eden and the adjacent building of the rectory, which surrounds the lower courtyard. The solution considers the use of this part of the monastery for the operation of the Higher Vocational School of Arts and Crafts together with the operation of exhibition and social spaces for the public. The reconstruction respects the original architecture of the building in all preserved details and elements. The main intervention in the external shape of the complex is the roofing of the courtyard, which creates an atrium and, thanks to it, a fully functional connection of the area. In the interior, as a result of the traffic that takes place on all floors, a new main staircase and a panoramic elevator have been built. This capacity connection of the floors enables the full operation of the school and social spaces for the public. The operation is divided in normal mode into the school and public parts, each of them has its own entrance and social facilities. The new auditorium serves as a relaxation area for students, but it can be opened to the public in the event of larger events and concerts and other social events can be held here. A restaurant, cafe and basement club are available for all types of operations. The proposal also included a solution to park improvements and new parking capacity.
Restoration of the monastery in Šternberk
Sarvašová, Anna ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis was an architectural study of the restoration proposal of the Augustinian monastery Šternberk. The building is owned by the city, whose task is to create new functions and uses for the abbey. The city did not concretize the plans for the construction of the monastery, it was more about a vision of the future and the discovery of new possibilities. Based on the analysis of the existing domain, conclusions are drawn about the use of new functions. The abbey is centrally located and is operationally and structurally connected to the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. The monastery also has a garden, which is currently inaccessible and unused. The plan is to revitalize the garden and build an underground parking lot that will serve the monastery and the city. The garden will be open to the public and at the same time will allow access to another part of the city. Revival of the monastery and its gardens should make the location more attractive and attract people to the city. The goal of the proposal is to create a high-quality public environment in the historic core of Šternberk..
