Mycorrhizal symbiosis in wetlands - the effect of eutrophication on mycorrhizal fungi
STAŇKOVÁ, Pavla
This Bachelor Thesis represents the grant application for project dealing with effects of eutrophication on mycorrhizal fungi in wetland habitats.
Food of predatory fish during the flooding of the Chabařovice coal mining pit
KABILKA, Petr
The Chabařovice coal mining pit is currently still under the process of continuous flooding and its area increased up to 174 ha since 2001.Adult perch (Perca fluviatilis) have been the most numerous fish of the lake until 2004. Fish were collected during the ichtyological survey sampling campaigns in June and September.Diet composition was expressed as percent weight, which was calculated for each prey taxon.
Changes in chemical composition of surface water at the model catchment Lesni potok during the spring snowmelt 2009
Navrátil, Tomáš ; Dobešová, Irena ; Rohovec, Jan ; Buchtová, Jana
Changes of surface water chemistry during the spring snowmelt were evaluated at the forested experimental catchment Lesni Potok found in National Reservation Area Voděradské bučiny. The pH value of surface waters decreased and together with high discharge it launched changes of solutes concentrations. As a good indicator of groundwater in the discharge were evaluated concentrations of Si and isotopic signature of 18O-H2O. The concentration of the main anion SO42- in waters of Lesni potok oscillated during the spring snowmelt in dependence of ratio between melting snow, soil solution, precipitation and groundwater. During the period of increased penetration of surface soil horizons with the water from melting snow causing the increase of DOC concentrations. Concentrations of DOC determined the export of total Fe. Concentrations of Al with DOC did not correlate because the driving factor on concentrations of Al at Lesni Potok is the surface water pH. Concentrations of NO3- were rapidly decreasing during the snowmelt and at the end of this episodic event NO3- concentrations were trivial due to the rapid flushing of soil horizons.
Current status of nature protection and management in Lužnice floodplain
Montagová, Martina ; Pithart, David
Lužnice floodplain has been preserved in a semi-natural state in a cca 25 km long section located between the state border and the town of Suchdol n L. Meandering river is surrounded by pools and oxbows, which are flooded several timeas a year. Most of the area is now the subject of nature protection. Microorganisms (Algae), water plants, birds and other wetland biota found a refungium here. Biodiversivity is maintained by river activity and mosaic structure of the landscape, formed by e pastures and wet forests. This character of landscape is now endangered by ceasing of meadow management, hence, the large parts of floodplain are now under the succesional stages leading to the wet forest in the decrease of overall biodiversity.
Natural flooding in Lužnice floodplain - an holistic approach
Pithart, David ; Montagová, Martina ; Hartvich, P. ; Černý, R. ; Prach, K.
Natural flooding was analysed in the Lužnice River floodplain in a holistic approach. Benefits of natural flooding can be summarised as folows: 1. Water retention is increased due to the soil absorption, evapotranspiration, filling of oxbows, pools and natural depressions and finally the space between the river terreces. Real flood event are analysed here in terms of water distribution among these processes. 2. Natural flooding reduces the loss of ionts from the watershed by flowing the river outflouw and loss of carbon loss by slowing the decomposition processes. 3. Flooding creates and maintains floodplain geobiodiversity by re-forming of floodplain subsystems and differentation of its impact on these subsystems. For these reasons, maintaining and enchenging of natural flooding seems to be a prerequisite of sustainable management of riverine landscape.
The Behavior of a Counter-Current Packed Bed Column Undergoing Flooding. The Behavior of a Counter-Current Packed Bed Column Undergoing Flooding. The Behavior of a Counter-Current Packed Bed Column Undergoing Flooding
Svoboda, Petr ; Staněk, Vladimír ; Jiřičný, Vladimír
The lecture present results of an experimental study of the hydrodynamics of a counter-current pack bed column irrigated by water and passed by air. The experimental setup developed for this purpose enables measurement of overall pressure drop, pressure profiles along the height of the packed section and the holdup of liquid retained in the packing and (if applicableú also on top of the packed section. The experiments are controlled by PC using Labview software and cover transient regime of the hydrodynamics of the column induced by variation of inlet gas and/or liquid rates. In focus of this lecture are experiments when the column under transient conditions reachers or even exceeds the flooding point.
Experimentální sledování a model popisující jev překmitu v protiproudé náplňové koloně v okolí bodu zahlcení
Svoboda, Petr ; Staněk, Vladimír
This paper present the mathematical model of gas-liquid counter-current packed bed column and solves it numerically for conditions of high gas-liquid flow interactions. The results of the solutions exhibiting the overshoots of both liquid holdup, pressure profile and pressure drop are then presented. Some of the results are the compared with the experimentally observed overshoots.
