Evaluation of the impact of technical and technological adjustments to the water treatment plant on the quality of treated water
Jedličková, Ivana ; Látal,, Milan (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the evaluation of sequential technical and technological changes of water collection and modification at a specific water treatment facility – the water treatment facility in Ivančice. The first part of the thesis explains the basic terminology such as technological processes of the water treatment plant, types of water treatment facilities, the range of different types of water based on its quality and technologies that can be found at the water treatment plant in Ivančice. The next two chapters describe the water treatment process before and after intensification. The primary focus is on raw water collection, the quality of both raw and treated water, and the water treatment technology. The last part of the paper offers multiple comparisons of the original and renovated facility and recommendations for improving the operations of the renovated water treatment facility. The final evaluation was carried out based on the information collected mainly by visiting the facility in person, and other sources.
Using of graywater in the Hotel

This thesis solves sanitary equipment installation and design of distribution of gray water in the hotel. Designed building has three floors and basement. On the first floor there are a restaurant, bar, conservatory, sanitary facilities and kitchen facilities. In the second and third floor are rooms for guests. In the basement there are storages, laundry room, engine room and other rooms, which are important for operation. The theoretical part is focused on familiarization with the theme of gray water, their division and possibilities. The practical part of applied knowledge on the subject at. The work also includes the calculation of return on this technological system.
MONITORING OF URANIUM IN DRINKING WATER IN THE SOUTH MORAVIAN REGION AND ITS ANALYSIS.
Hanusková, Vendula ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (referee) ; Ing.Dita Janečková, (advisor)
The determination of uranium in samples of the enviroment was considered for liquadeted chemical toxicity of uranium and it is impossible to leave out a potential occurrence in drinking water. The purpose of this diploma thesis was the monitoring of preselected public water supplies in the South Moravia and post action analysis of those samples. That was all on the basis of the requierement of the Regional Hygiene Station. For determination of trace concentrations of uranium in drinking waters the method ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma with Mass Spectrometry) was chosen. All of the results were then summarized and evaluated. At the end are proposed feasible solutions and precautions for public water supplies operators.
Application of membrane technologies for the production of drinking water from the effluent from the WWTP
Minich, Marek ; Mergl, Václav (referee) ; Repková, Martina (advisor)
The Master’s Thesis deals with the application of membrane technologies in the production of drinking water from the effluent of a municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). There were two types of pressure-driven membrane processes selected – ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, to achieve water production of the required quality. For the needs of the diploma thesis, an already existing pilot-scale membrane unit of the ASIO TECH Company l.t.d. was used. There were 44 physical, chemical and microbiological parameters observed to assess the quality of the produced water and also the input water (effluent from the WWTP). None of the afore mentioned parameters exceeded the limit values, more specifically the highest limit values issued by the Decree 70/2018 Coll. However, the produced water cannot be considered as drinking water because of its low mineralisation. Before its potential application in practise, it is therefore necessary to choose an appropriate method of remineralisation as well as to follow all the other legislative requirements for the drinking water, which have already been out of the scope within the Master’s Thesis.
Criteria for drinking water for breeding medical leeches
Krýslová, Jana ; Řezáčová, Veronika (referee) ; Komendová, Renata (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of breeding leeches with regard to the quality of the water in which it is bred. It focuses on the comparison of individual criteria of drinking water taken from different sources of drinking water (Letovice, Brno and the surroundings of Brno). The sources of these waters are from Vír and Březová, or they are mixed in a certain ratio. Selected indicators of drinking water quality were measured in individual water samples using UV-VIS spectrometry, flame photometry, turbidimetry and volumetric methods. Rajec baby water, purchased from the retail network, was selected as a comparative sample. From the obtained data it was found that the values of water hardness have the greatest influence on the success of leech breeding. It is generally known that too hard water does not benefit the leech, and therefore it dies. For the other determined parameters, it was not possible to prove whether they have a significant influence on the breeding of leeches and its death.
Evaluation of effectiveness removing pesticides of reconstructed water treatment plant
Kovačíková, Kristýna ; Šubrt, Michal (referee) ; Biela, Renata (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with assessing of effectiveness removing pecticides of reconstructed water treatment plant. In the introduction ismade a short research focused on pesticides, their getting into sources of drinking water and possibilities their removing by water supply processes. As part of this work are assessed effectiveness of this processes for removing pesticidal substances on specific water treatment plant and its sources of drinking water. Is made description of technology water treatment plant before and after the reconstruction, measured data of concetration pesticides in the sources and in the output from water treatment plant is processed to the tables and to the graphs. In conclusion are assessed effectiveness of the new technology for removing selected pesticidal substances and their metabolites.
Determination of pharmaceuticals in drinking waters using HPLC
Králová, Radka ; Čáslavský, Josef (referee) ; Vávrová, Milada (advisor)
The aim of the diploma thesis is the determination of macrolide antibiotics in drinking water by using of high performance liquid chromatography. Erythromycin and clarithromycin were selected such as representative macrolides due to frequently prescribed pharmaceuticals in this time. Solid phase extraction (SPE) by using of Oasis HLB cartridges was applied for pre concentration and purification of chosen analytes in real samples of drinking water. Optimalization of method and analysis were performed by using of high performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry detection (HPLC-MS). The suitable method was selected for determination of macrolides in real samples taken from two sources of drinking water, the interception of water in Litovel and Černovír Olomouc.
Removal of lead and other metals from water
Šopíková, Lucie ; Vybíralová, Pavla (referee) ; Biela, Renata (advisor)
This work covers the topic of metals and semimetals in water. It is divided into three parts. First, each element is characterized by its properties and behavior in water. Incidence in the environment, utilization and effects of intake on human body are described for each element. Second, means of elimination from water are introduced. Different chemical, mechanical and biological methods are discussed. In greater detail, precipitate method, cementation, electrochemical processes, sorption and biosorption are reviewed. Third, hands-on filtration experiment of polluted water with the help of different filtration materials is included. This experiment was done in a laboratory belonging to the Institute of Municipal Water Management, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology.
Drinking water contamination in water supply system
Černíková, Eva ; Třasoňová, Pavla (referee) ; Ručka, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to consider the possible causes and consequences of contamination of drinking water in the water supply system. In the introduction are general information about the problems with water supply and some new approaches to water distribution system. In the next part there are described components of the water supply system and how they work. There are also described problems of drinking water contamination in water supply system. What are the mechanisms, what causes the turbidity and which microorganisms are the most common source of infections. In the final part there are described individual cases of drinking water contamination and what were the consequences. In the beginning there is a short form to every case which provides you a quick orientation in the problem.
