Diagnostics as such stands side by side with machine repairs in all sectors. Diagnosing faults or damage is the first step of each repair. In this thests I introduce the history of diagnostics and basic diagnostic equipment for diagnostics of cars and agricultural machinery to the readers. The main theme of this work is a detailed project of a diagnostic laboratory with diagnostic equipment, including all furniture and machinery equipment. It also contains a plan for build a laboratory and layout. The result is a complete price calculation suitable for a grant support.

This work includes the complete design of a prototype embedded system for displaying information from a vehicle. ELM327 chip is described and its basic use. Work also describes the development of the diagnostic socket for vehicles in European countries. Also contains a complete description of developing schematic, printed circuit board and firmware implementation. The thesis describes the use of realtime operating system in embedded system.

The thesis deals with possibilities of application of VAG-COM PROFI diagnostic kit in forensic engineering. After defining a theoretical basis, according to possibilities of evaluation of technical condition of a vehicle, the thesis is focused on applying diagnostic methods using above mentioned diagnostic kit. With respect to opportunities of identification of driving parameters, possibility of acceleration measurement and estimation of engine power are introduced. Describing of methodology and making the final statement are contained in the thesis as a part of every single measurement.

Read up protocol OBD-II and familiarize yourself with the concept of existing devices, which use this protocol for wireless data transmission diagnostics car. Different conception mutually compare and suggest own concept device. The device should be consist from standard components without development own hardware. Implement the proposed device. Verify function of device and measure its range and data throughput. Discuss the connection to the database server and simple presentation of data.

Diagnostics of vehicles has become an important part of testing, control and developement of vehicles. The aim of this bachelor´s thesis is to summarize and compare the possibilities of diagnostics of modern vehicles. The first part of thesis focuses on the development of diagnostics, advantages and disadvantages of each type of diagnostics, review of the information obtained before the OBD II diagnostics and the list of standards and communication protocols. In the next part it compares the possibility of certain diagnostics in practice.

There is a general description of the tests, which the manufacturer must undertake and successfully complete to produce cars at this emission level. There is also a description of the harmful substances produced from the exhaust system of a car and an overview of the structural elements to reduce them. In conclusion, the reflection on the issue of emission standards and their constant tightening.

This project produced within The Bachelor’s Study Programme of Applied Sciences in Engineering presents the of a full-value service diagnostics for motor cars. This diagnostics was draft on the basis of the profesional service diagnostics study, the CAN Bus, the OBD and EOBD Standards. The diagnostics puts the programmed VAG-COM Environment (the Roos Tech Company’s product) to use. This method is low-cost and does not make use of professional appliances. The draft diagnostic cabe lis the OBD Standard compatible.
