Navara, Jáchym ; Krausz Hladká, Malvína (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
The subject of this work is a descriptive analysis focusing on the influence of Brazilian presidents on regional international relations after the year 1945. Using available sources, the goal of this work is to assess how the influence of the Brazilian head of state on the region changed and, as a hypothesis of this work, globalization and democratization affected the relative impact of such influence, if at all. The strength of the Brazilian head of state is presented as it is limited by the Brazilian constitutions, as well as other factors concerning the inner political landscape of Brazil, which serves as context to analyse personalities and approaches of the heads of state to regional international politics. This project would like to serve as an outline or a foundation for further detailed research, that could use psychological approaches to provide a broader assessment of the relation between personalities, influence and regional international relations of Brazil.

Dittrichová, Anna ; Kruml, Milan (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the comparison of Czech adaptions of the reality show Survivor - i.e. Trosečník (Prima, 2006), Robinsonův ostrov (Nova, 2017), and Survivor Česko & Slovensko (Nova, 2022). In the theoretical part, reality TV is defined at first - its definition, characteristics, reasons for success, modes of representation, and the difference between reality TV and reality are outlined, history of the format, its classification to subgenres and reality TV in the Czech Republic is introduced. A description of the globalization of television formats and the process of adapting licensed formats follows it. In the analytical part, firstly, the comparison methodology is described, and briefly, the selected adaptions and the original global format are characterized. Subsequently, a comparison of three Czech adaptions of the reality show Survivor is accomplished. In two more recent adaptions, only the show's first series is included in the comparison. The comparison of adaptions is based on the following aspects: the name of the show, program strategy (broadcasting schedule, number, and duration of episodes, sideshow), the cast (contestants and hosts), the visual and audio elements of the show, the episode structure, rules, content selection, and feedback (viewership, reviews).
Globalization, Rule of Law and Wealth Inequality
Svěchotová, Anežka ; Horváth, Roman (advisor) ; Schwarz, Jiří (referee)
We examine the determinants of wealth inequality using new dataset consisting of a rich set of explanatory variables including rule of law, as well as different measures of globalization. We use the Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA) approach to account for model uncertainty. The BMA methodology allows to thoroughly compare a large number of potential determinants. Due to large differences in wealth inequality across different countries, the variables included reflect countries' various aspects, namely economic, geographical, regulatory, institutional, finance, globalization, political and demographic factors. Examining 39 potential determinants, we find five robustly related variables. Among them there are three financial development indicators, GDP growth and one geographical dummy for countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. On the other hand, some of the measures of globalization are correlated with wealth inequality; however, they are not its determinants. Factors influencing development of cultural competencies in nursing students
ŠPIROCHOVÁ, Ilona
The concept of cultural competence hides a large amount of information on how to provide culturally appropriate care. This bachelor thesis deals not only with the cultural competencies themselves, but also with related factors that affect their development. It also deals with transcultural models and the effect of cultural competencies in the nursing process. The aim of the thesis was to map the factors influencing the development of cultural competencies in nursing students. To fulfil the goal, 4 hypotheses have been set. To verify the hypotheses, quantitative data collection has been performed using an online questionnaire. Students of the General Nurse and General Nursing program have been assigned to the research group. The results have shown that nursing students are influenced by the media, education, social networks and the attitude of teachers, but not to the extent we have expected. The results also show that nursing students most often meet the Romani people, Ukrainian and Vietnamese patients during their internship. As part of their internship, students most often encounter patients who profess Christianity, Islam, and Jehovah's Witnesses. In the research, students have shown that they have knowledge in the field of transcultural nursing and consider it important to provide culturally competent care. The conclusion of the research is that cultural competences will become more and more popular among nursing students due to the current increase in migration. The development of cultural competences will still need to be expanded in the areas of knowledge and skills in transcultural nursing.

Thus, it reports the results of the qualitative research having as a target to explore, highlight and contextualise the main issues connected to the conceptualization of region and corresponding regional and linguistic identities. This study is based on the combination of results obtained after the literature review and the conduction of semi-structured interviews with eleven multilingual speakers. The empirical data were analysed with the help of sequential analysis, coding and categorization. After the application of the corresponding methods, the following main categories or aspects were singled out: particular vision of the concept of region, features and perception of regional and linguistic identity, importance of English language, coexistence of multiple identities and European identity. These outcomes find their reflection within corresponding sources and may be considered as those that contribute to the researches on multilingualism, international communication and regional studies.
