Communication skills of pupils with specific learning disabilities

This work deals with the topic of communication skills of pupils with specific learning disabilities. It is divided into theoretical and practical part and consists of four chapters. In the first chapter, the author deals with specific learning disabilities, attention is paid mainly to four types of specific learning disabilities, namely dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysortography and dyspraxia. The second chapter belongs to the language levels. The third chapter is devoted to the issues of language acquisition by a child. The fourth chapter describes the research itself, which was carried out for this thesis. The research is of a qualitative nature and its main goal is to analyze the communication skills of pupils with specific learning disabilities with a focus on language levels. The research sample consisted of six primary school pupils with specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dysortography. The children are in the third and fourth years. Communication skills of people with moderate mental disabilities in institutional care

This diploma thesis deals with communication skills of people with moderate mental disabilities in institutional care. The theoretical framework is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on adults with moderate mental disabilities. First, it defines and characterizes adulthood, further defines and classifies mental disability and lastly characterizes adult individuals with mental disabilities. The next chapter is devoted to communication, which is defined along with communication skills. This chapter also describes symptomatic speech disorders of people with mental disabilities and individual language levels and the impact of mental disability on them in detail. The last chapter of the theoretical part approaches the support of people with mental disabilities in the framework of social services. First of all, it focuses on the history of social services for people with mental disabilities, then on the legislative consolidation of social services. In conclusion, this chapter describes some types and forms of social services. Logopedic intervention provided to children in kindergarten for children with hearing impairment

This master's thesis deals with speech-language pathology (SLP) intervention provided in kindergartens to children with hearing impairment. The theoretical part of the thesis acquaints the reader with the topic of hearing problems, hearing compensation possibilities and the most commonly used communication strategies in the educational process of children with hearing problems. Continually, it describes the ontogenetic evolution of speech in children with hearing impairment and its specifics in different speech levels, aquaints with SLP intervention, its structure and organisation in Czech republic and describes frequently occuring types of disrupted communicational abilities in pre-school children. The closure of the theoretical part describes the pre-school education trends when it comes to children with hearing problems. The main goal of the practical part is to map out and comment on the way SLP intervention is provided in pre-schools for children with hearing impairment. Manifestations in the language levels of first class pupils at reglat elementary

The diploma thesis "Manifestations in the language levels of the 1st grade pupils of the regular elemntary school" consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with general terms from the area of speech and language development, describes the development of motor skills, auditory and visual perception. Furthermore, it describes individual language levels and the most common types of speech disorders encountered in primary school pupils. The research part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis of speech manifestations on individual levels of pupils of the first grade of the regular elementary school. The partial aim of the research is to analyze the gross, fine and oromotorics of the examined children, to analyze their auditory and visual perception and to analyze the quality of all language levels. Development of perceptual skills of the pupil with developmental dysphasia

This thesis deals with development of perceptual skills of the pupil with developmental dysphasia during younger school age. This thesis is divided in two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part includes three parts which characterize the whole concept of this problems. The first chapter deals with human speech development. The second chapter includes speech disorders , describes individual parts of speech disorders. The third chapter defines the developmental dysphasia and its terminology, etiology, symptoms and prognosis. It also describes diagnostic methods of the developmental dysphasia and follow-up therapy. The practical part contains a research survey based on efficiency own exercises set oriented on the visual and hearing perception by the younger school learners with developmental dysphasia. The research part contains research schedule, describes survey sample and research methods. At the end of the chapter the results of survey were summarized. Developemental dysphasia in preschool age

Bachelor thesis describes the developemental dysphasia in preschool age. The theoretical part deals with development of speech from the logopedical point of view, characterization of developmental dysphasia and developmental dysphasia in pre-school age. The practical part deals with a child with developmental dysphasia in a regular and special kindergarten.
Montessori Tools Use for Development of Language Competences Children with Disabilities.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create didactic guidance according to the principles of Marie Montessori, who would support verbal development at children suffering from dysphasia. Data collected during analysis will be used to support decision which domains the guidance should be focused on. The guidance will be then created so it meets Montessori pedagogy requirements and will be shown to parents afterward. A qualitative survey is selected to achieve the objectives set. Results of practical part consist of multiple tools enhancing evaluation of the object size (big smaller - the smallest, small bigger - the biggest), colours, prepositions (above, bellow, in, besides, in between) and hearing comprehension. It is recommended to work with tools in predefined order and to begin with colours rather than with prepositions. All tools are motive active and built in three versions. Testing subjects worked with tools systematically, could focus on the task and finish the task successfully. Their performance was influenced by repeating activities and tools attractiveness as well as tediousness and surrounding environment. In conclusion, the investigation proved that verbal development at subjects suffering from dysphasia can be enhanced using Montessori tools.
