The relationship with the Police ČR and choosen nonconforming subcultures
ŠUPLER, Josef
The aim of my bachelor thesis was to describe the attitudes of the Police members in the CR to chosen subcultures existing in contemporary Czech society as well as identify possible antipathies towards certain subcultures. In the theoretical part I focused on defining relevant terms such as attitude, prejudice, stereotype and subculture. However, the major part of the literature search deals with particular subcultures like graffiti artists, participants in illegal free techno parties, hooligans, skinheads, anarchists, satanists, EMO style and gay and lesbian subcultures. Each subculture is briefly characterized, including its short history. Before starting the investigation I defined two hypotheses. Hypothesis no.1: Respondents inthe age group of 26 ? 35 years view the subcultures in a more positive way than the respondents over 55 years of age. This hypothesis was not proved. The views of the respondents were not significantly different. Hypothesis no.2: The subcultures which the respondents encounter when in service are viewed more negatively by them than the subcultures which they do not ever encounter. This hypothesis was proved. During the investigation I used the technique of quantitative-qualitative research according to my own questionnaire, together with in-depth interviews with several chosen respondents. The anonymous questionnaire was filled in by 106 respondents ? members of the Police of the Czech Republic, out of which there were 78 men and 28 women. The survey contained both the questions about the respondents and other questions related to particular nonconformist subcultures. The in-depth interviews were carried out with 6 respondents in order to investigate their attitudes more thoroughly.
The attitude of university students to future family and parenting
VALVODOVÁ, Jana
In the 90s of the last century there was a great transformation in family behaviour in the Czech Republic. Values and value orientation changed and so did the attitude towards the traditional division of roles in the family. Young people have a lot of possibilities related to their career and lifestyle (singles), which do not always correspond with a traditional form of life together (marriage). The aim of the Bachelor´s thesis was to find out the attitude of students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice towards the institute of marriage and parenting. A partial aim was to discover whether the students prefer marriage or alternative forms of life together and their view of family and professional life, division of roles of a man and woman in a family and their attitudes towards parenting. The theoretical part includes the description of problems of a family, marriage and parenting. I also deal with the roles of a man-father, woman-mother, university education, employment of women and dual-career marriages. I got this information through a content analysis of secondary data. The research part was carried out in the form of quantitative examination. The data were acquired through the method of questioning, the technique of questionnaire. The research results suggest that the institutes of family and marriage are still very important for the university students. The vast majority of the university students want to live in a marriage. However, most of them prefer to get married after a certain period of life together. Having finished their bachelor´s degree, the students largely give priority to go on to study for a master´s degree before they establish a family. Most of the students plan to be married with two children, with the first child being born after they finish their studies or even longer. The research results bring information on future family behaviour of university students and their attitudes towards further studies. The results may serve as a basis for next research related to behaviour of present university students after they finish studying.
Awareness and attitudes of Mydlovary residents resulting from risks of radioactivity leak from the former uranium ore processing plant MAPE Mydlovary
HUSOVÁ, Iva
In South Bohemia, near the Czech town of České Budějovice, in close vicinity of municipalities of Mydlovary, Nákří, Olešník, Zahájí and Dívčice, there are 286 ha of uranium tailings impoundments, along with the former uranium ore processing plant known as MAPE Mydlovary. Althought this company terminated its operation in 1991, significant tailings impoundments contaminants, such as dust, radon emissions and gamma radiation are being found here. Nevertheless, radon emissions still represent a risk to the population in the neighborhood and airborne radon poses a risk also to other areas. Therefore, residents in a wide neighbourhood have long been loaded with increased doses of radiation. The thesis deals with negative consequences of the former uranium ore processing plant MAPE Mydlovary on human health and also describes the process of clearing works in progress in the locality. In this thesis, the level of awareness of Mydlovary residents, their opinions and attitudes to the damaged area are also mentioned. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused first on a brief description and history of the former uranium ore plant, the consequences of the MAPE Mydlovary activities and associated risks (e.g. higher doses of radon), which put inhabitants of nearby villages under threat. The next section provides information on the residents´ attitudes to decontamination works performed at the site and associated problems. The practical part of this thesis is devoted to the research, the aim was to determine if and to what extent Mydlovary residents are aware of the potential damage to land, water, air, and a possible negative impact on their health. The research also provides information on the residents´ attitudes to decontamination works at the site and about the preferred usage of the damaged area after decontamination is completed. The research was conducted by addressing 73 residents of Mydlovary in the period from January to March 2010. The results prove a relatively high awareness of Mydlovary residents about negative effects of radioactive substances and hazardous contaminants on their health, and also point to a lack of the respondents´ awareness about decontamination works and outline the current worries of Mydlovary residents.
An attitude of single young women to an institution of the marriage and the parenthood
CIPÍNOVÁ, Dagmar
The issue of marriage and partnership seems to be a rather hot topic considering the number of trial marriages, incomplete families or postponed parenthoods. My baccalaureate work deals with a research in the views and attitudes of nowaday´s young single women to the issues of marriage and parenthood. The information for my baccalaureate work has been acquired using content analysis of secondary data. Quantitative research has been selected for the monitoring of attitudes related to the work´s objectives as well as for the purposes of hypotheses testing. The data collection has been based on the method of interview and the questionnaire technique, the questionnaires containing 26 questions each. In total, one-hundred and forty questionnaires (100 %) have been distributed, one-hundred and five of them (75 %) being fully completed and usable for the research purposes. The questionnaire research was carried out in February and March 2009. The questionnaires were anonymous, pre-tested on a sample of respondents within a preliminary research. The questionnaire technique was designed in order to obtain primary data on the target population selected by random choice among young single women living in the District of České Budějovice, the only precondition being that the research was focussed exclusively on single and childless women. Two of the three determined hypotheses could not be confirmed. The research results have shown that the majority of young women wish to live and obviously will live in a marriage, even if after the lapse of a certain period of trial marriage. Concluding an official marriage or entering into the trial marriage relationship are not predominantly dependent of the level of the education achieved, whereas the length of studies or professional training may play a certain role. As far as starting a family is concerned, marriage does not pose an essential pre-condition of triggering the wish in a young woman to have a baby. The research has further confirmed the current trend of postponing marriages into a higher age as well as the rising age of women giving birth to their first baby. The results of the presented work reflect the current situation in the attitudes of young single women to the institutions of marriage and parenthood. They present a valuable source of information related to family planning and reproductive behaviour. They may also serve for the purposes of further studies in this field or may be applied as study material within programmes focussed on the given issue.
The scientific and ordinary public attitute fowards to the home violence
VESELÁKOVÁ, Jesika
Abstract This Bachelor{\crq}s thesis deals, both theoretically and practically, with the attitudes of the professional and non-professional public to domestic violence. Violence in its various forms has been deep-rooted in human behaviour from time immemorial, and, in my opinion, it is unrealistic to think that it may be eliminated or at least suppressed at its beginning. What may be dealt with, however, are attitudes of society towards violence and its originators. The victim{\crq}s attitude is derived from the attitude of the state and the professional and non-professional public to this matter. The theoretical part focuses on defining the term of domestic violence and its specific aspects and forms. The readers become acquainted with society{\crq}s different views of men, women and children in a brief historical discourse. This thesis also sums up the characteristics of the victim and the culprit of domestic violence, and it briefly informs about the development and the present legislative state in the Czech Republic. The final chapters of this part deal with the definition, components and measuring of attitudes. The objective of the thesis was surveying the real situation of the professional and non-professional public{\crq}s attitudes. Before I started my research, I set up two hypotheses for each of the groups questioned. The first hypothesis confirms that the non-professional public is not sufficiently aware of domestic violence and possibilities of help provided to victims. The second hypothesis confirms that the non-professional public perceives domestic violence as a negative phenomenon in society, and are ready to participate in its detection. I consider the fact that the non-professional public are not able to distinguish domestic violence from ``hard disputes{\crq}q, as results from the first hypothesis, as the most serious obstacle in the way non-professional public detect this criminal offence. The third hypothesis confirms that more than 70 per cent of the respondents from among the professional public consider domestic violence as a problem concerning the entire society. The fourth hypothesis confirming that the prevailing majority of the respondents from among the professional public regard the currently valid legal state as sufficient, was refuted. To conduct the survey I used the quantitative method. The data were obtained from two sets of population by means of two types of anonymous questionnaires. The set of respondents of the non-professional public numbered 208. The research set of the professional public consisted of 53 respondents. The sets were not compared with each other. The objective of the thesis was fulfilled. I view the main contribution of my thesis in pointing at problematic spheres in the society{\crq}s awareness and attitudes, and I suggested possible solutions of the problem as well as starting points from this sphere in the future. The results of my thesis could be used as a feedback for the professional and interested public.

The thesis has been focused on subcultures Anarchists, Emo, Freetekno, Hip Hop, Hippies Punk and Skinheads. Results are confronted with additional sample of students which does not study humanities. For the bachelor thesis I used the research method of an enquiry, a technique of the questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies. It was composed of questions with photographs of members of particular subculture. Respondents should recognize them and express their attitude towards them. The number of respondents of humanities was 150 and the respondents which does not study humanities, 50. In terms of research two hypotheses were made. The first hypothesis {\clq}qAttitudes towards subcultures differ statistically according to the type of the subculture - negative attitudes towards extremist subcultures occur at more than 70 % responses of the basic target population`` was confirmed. The second hypothesis {\clq}qAttitudes towards subcultures with extremist orientation - anarchists and skinheads are more affirmative at students which does not study humanities than at students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia`` was confirmed. The third hypothesis {\clq}qStudents of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia identify correctly the subcultures in 80% of cases`` was also confirmed. The results imply that students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia are more critical in their attitudes towards selected subcultures.
