Measurement of Economic Effectiveness of IS/ICT
Čelikovský, Filip ; Maryška, Miloš (advisor) ; Faina, Michal (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to measure the economic effectiveness of the specific real IS/ICT based on real data, which were provide by the owner of the system. Next goal is to describe how to measure economic effectiveness of IS/ICT, especially based on costs and effects analysis. Complex information about economic effectiveness of IS/ICT issue and also costs and effects analysis of enterprise informatics are made up of knowledge gained by studying professional publications aimed to this and relative topics. Necessary data to measure the economic effectiveness of the chosen IS/ICT was gained by its owner. To reach the main goal, author chose a few commonly used financial indicators and proposed two other metrics. Based on calculations of these indicators and metrics, author estimated that the rated system is economically effective. Author forwarded the results of measurement to the owner of rated system, along with the comment of author. The contribution of this thesis is that shows the universal procedure of economic effectiveness measurement of IS/ITC in clear and complex structure. The thesis can be divided into two logical parts -- the theoretical one and practical one. In the theoretical part, author describes in standalone chapter possibilities in dividing of costs and its identification, severity of this act and also possible ways of the cost evidence. The next chapter speaks about effects of IS/ICT, where author also mention possibilities in dividing of effects, ways of their identification and measurement. This capture also put the accent especially on the hardness of their assignment. The last theoretical chapter imaginarily joins the antecedent chapters because describes a few financial indicators and metrics, suitable for measurement of economic effectiveness of IC/ICT. In that case, this capture speaks about usage data about costs and effects in measurement of economic effectiveness. One whole chapter is devoted to practical part of this thesis, in which author used all defined indicators and metrics from theoretical part and measured the economic effectiveness based on real data. Thus, author used the knowledge from theoretical part in the practical one. The part of measurement is also a discussion of the results.
Analysis of investment policy in case of re-building and reconstruction of the CWTP in Prague in context of European grant
Večerník, Jakub ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Slavík, Jan (referee)
The Reconstruction of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Prague constitutes a fundamental challenge for the Czech capital city of Prague. The existing wastewater treatment plant is obsolete and fails to comply with limits set forth by the Council Directive 91/271/EEC concerning urban waste-water treatment. Thus, it is necessary to build a new waterline and reconstruct the old one. As such a project would be financially demanding, its implementation is dependent upon a subsidy from the EU Operational Programme "Environment". There are also more variants of the reconstruction of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Prague. In the thesis, the author compares the contemplated options of re-building and reconstruction of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Prague. He also examines the influence of negotiations with European Commission representatives and of the amount of the subsidy upon the choice of the final option. A hypothesis of the study is that due to the subsidy policy creates pressure on the final form of the reconstruction of the Prague Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, which directly interact its economic efficiency.
Evaluation of policy objectives in the management of biodegradable municipal waste in terms of efficiency
Mareš, Josef ; Vejchodská, Eliška (advisor) ; Slavík, Jan (referee)
The work deals with the critical assessment of the requirement of Council Directive 1999/31/EC on the landfill of waste for a gradual reduction in landfilling of biodegradable municipal waste (BMW). The aim of this work was to evaluate this requirement in terms of economic efficiency using the meta-analysis of selected complex studies based on cost-benefit analysis. Studies focused on natural and technical parameters and available specific data for Czech Republic of particular ways of processing BMW were also used for finding of private and social costs and benefits balance. Based on the results of this balance is not possible to decide whether fulfillment of the requirement will increase economic efficiency. Results are calculated from large number of input values, some of which shows significant variability. Oxidation rate of uncaptured CH4 in the process of landfilling BMW is characteristic example. This parameter varies between values 10 % and 90 %. While for value 10 % would separate collection of biowastes and its composting presented option with higher economic efficiency, for value 90 % is the result opposite.
Energy saving financing in the CR in comparison with selected programs abroad
Svobodová, Alena ; Kačín, Radovan (advisor) ; Kalčev, Petr (referee)
This master thesis is looking into problems of financing of energy saving arrangements in residential buildings. The paper concentrates on an analysis of all available sources of financing. After a brief characteristic of basic ways of financing, including Czech and foreign models, it introduces closer only a selection of the available programs, grant titles and commercial products. Then the attention is paid to more specific programs and products from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany. This paper applies their program parameters to a model object of the residential building and assesses each and every option, using selected economical standards. Based on these parameters, it appraises an economical effectiveness of the investment in individual variations of financing from the point of view of an investor and a state, expressed with the price of a unit saved CO2 emission. By combining both preferential variations of an investor and a state, an optimal variation of financing for the model object is found.
