Influence of freedom at work on performance of an IT company

Companies running a business in the 21st century are facing heavily turbulent environment full of changes. Highest profiting companies are mainly those that can react to the changes faster and better than their competitors. However, basic work principles and methods of work organizing slowly stop suiting the needs of turbulent and change-demanding business environment. These principles simply aren't flexible enough. The right answer to higher flexibility demand could be freedom at work. This thesis examines the influence of freedom at work on selected economic indicators of companies operating in the field of information technology, especially their performance. The theoretical part describes freedom and responsibility, as well as concept of freedom at work and characterizes typical signs of classical and liberal companies. The empirical part defines a model that is capable of determining a level of freedom of any organization. This model is then applied to the sample of surveyed IT companies. After determining the level of freedom for each of the surveyed companies, companies are subsequently involved in the research examining the impact of freedom at work on performance, productivity and wage cost per employee of IT companies.
Leadership through responsibilities

The goal of this thesis is to define leadership style called Leadership through responsibilities, show its advantages, disadvantages and offer recommendation, which should result in minimization or complete elimination of disadvantages. Introduced theoretical principle is shown on the company HUB, s.r.o. In the first chapter there are shown theories of leadership, there are introduced classical leadership styles using research of other authors and in this chapter we can also find definition of Leadership through responsibilities in the context of introduced styles of the other authors. In the second chapter we can find explanation of the term Svoboda v práci (literally -- freedom at work), its main characteristics and connection between Svoboda v práci and our examined style. In the third chapter we will introduce the company which will serve as a source of examples for putting Leadership through responsibilities into practice. We will introduce the advantages and disadvantages we found, which will be also accompanied with examples. In the final part of the thesis there are offered recommendations, how to minimize disadvantages. The data used in the research of this leadership model come from personal experience, structured interviews, in-house analyzes and membership questionnaires.
„Freedom at work“ IT companies in the Czech Republic

My bachelor's thesis deals with topic of companies in IT industry based in the Czech Republic that incorporate principles of freedom at work. The goal of the thesis is to elaborate the case study focused on efficiency of two Czech companies in the IT industry that are comparable in size and specialization. One of the companies calls itself "freedom at work" company and the other one does not. In the theoretical part I describe agile and rigorous methodologies of software development and other tools for project management or document sharing commonly used in companies. I focus more closely on Rational Unified Process, extreme programming and Scrum. In the next part of the thesis I focus on describing principles of freedom at work. This part is crucial for the correct understanding of the research structure that deals with company efficiency. Regarding the principles I describe factors related to company culture, shared vision, hiring new employees, trust and responsibility principles and some others. I carried out the research at companies Abdoc and Clevis. Both companies develop web applications and websites aimed at the mobile platform.
