Sustainable tourism development in the chosen destination - Liberec Region

The thesis is concerned with the sustainable tourism development theme. Its goal is to evaluate the current situation of sustainable tourism development in the Liberec Region and also to verify that the region develops adequate activities for its support. The theoretical part is focused on defining the concept of sustainable development, it is focused on description of its essence and its principles. The role of important international organizations is described as well. The practical part is concerned with the characteristics of the Liberec Region. A substantial part of the thesis consists of analysis of offer - environmentally friendly forms of tourism, evaluation based on the chosen indicators of sustainable tourism and questionnaire research in four different groups: Regional authority, tourists and visitors, residents and tourism entrepreneurs in Liberec Region.
Significance of tourism for the economies of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs)

The Least developed countries represent the weakest and poorest segment of the Word economy. Members of this this specific group are countries with the lowest incomes per capita, low human development and high economic vulnerability. Dealing with problems of these countries including extreme poverty isn't successful in the long run. Many advanced, developing as well as the LDCsstart to concentrate on tourism development, thank to its wide impacts on the economy and regional development. Also the UN strengthens its support to the LDCs in sustainable tourism development. The goal of this thesis is to analyze the significance of tourism for the economies of the LDCs and its potential for boosting the socio-economic development in these countries and for solving their problems includingtha alleviation of poverty.
Tourism in the EU: economic importance, deployment and current trends

The presented thesis deals with the issue of tourism in the European Union with emphasis on its economic importance, deployment and current trends that can be identified in this sector. Its aim is to assess the issue of tourism in the EU from a different perspective than it is usual in the literature devoted to this topic, and try to find answers to several questions, including whether the economic importance of tourism is really as great within the EU as it is often attributed to this sector, or how tourism is deployed in the EU. The basis for answering these and other questions is the analysis of a number of indicators over the last two decades. In terms of current trends in tourism, attention is paid to trends in demand and supply and the issue of sustainable tourism development.
The present state and perspectives of sustainable tourism development in Centra Bohemian Region

The thesis is concerned with the sustainable tourism development theme. Its goal is to chart the present state and provide sequent perspectives of the development in Central Bohemian Region. In the theoretical part, the attention is paid to sustainable tourism development theme on global, European and national level. Emphasis is then placed on analysis of environmentaly friendly forms of tourism in Central Bohemian Region and evaluation based on the selected indicators for sustainable tourism. Analytical part contains analysis of sustainable tourism development awareness in Central Bohemian Region based on a questionnaire investigation. Proposals for the future are included as well.
