Slide bearing parameters of modern combustion engines
Dvořák, Martin ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The objective of this bachelor‘s thesis is to provide general information on sliding bearings and their advantages and disadvantages. The thesis is divided into five parts that deal with individual topics and issues. The first one is concerned with the bearings themselves, their partition and development. The second part compares sliding bearings and rolling contact bearings and their pros and cons. The next part then describes their main parameters, e.g. the friction loss or various lubrication methods. The fourth one summarizes several examples of practice, like lubricating in extreme working conditions and an overview of bearing failures. The last part deals with the construction of sliding bearings used in combustion engines, materials used to produce sliding bearings and with the issue of lubrication, which is essential for this type of bearings.

Bachelor project analyzes the use of high-speed plain bearings in turbocharged internal combustion engines equipped with turbochargers. The first part is devoted to a general description of turbochargers for internal combustion engines. Their function, design of the device itself as well as the individual components, the possible ways to control the supercharging. The main part analyzes the calculation of plain bearings in practice.
Measurement of Bearings Power Losses
Musil, Roman ; Raffai, Peter (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
The intention of this bachelor's thesis is to handle an information about the measurement of losses in radial slide bearings and rolling bearings. In a first section, there is described friction in bearings. The next section is about the comparing machines with static and dynamic conditions. Third section describe methods and means of experimental measurement of losses in bearings under different operating conditions. In fourth section, there is introduced the numerical model for friction losses. In the last section, there is summary of machines and there is depicted possible future development too.
Plain Bearings for CI Tractor Engine
Petr, David ; Ramík, Pavel (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
This thesis deals with the hydrodynamic plain bearings tractor diesel engine. The first part is closer acquainted with the hydrodynamic bearing, its principles and materials used. The next part work deals with the multibody system adams-engine. The main part of this work is to model the crank mechanism and its storage in hydrodynamic bearings in the MBS program and the subsequent simulation under different operating conditions.
Behaviour of Plain Bearings under Various Working Conditions
Lábus, Jiří ; Svída, David (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
This diploma thesis is devoted to problems of crankshaft plain bearings at five-cylinder in-line engine. Document body describes behaviour of plain bearings under various working conditions. To needs of the hydrodynamic bearings simulations is created the cranktrain virtual model. Next part of hereof document deals with problems of bearing shell design. Is created survey of the bearing materials and shortly described technological processing of shell bearing. To understand complicated problems hydrodynamic lubrication is derived Reynolds differential equation and foreshadowed succession calculation dynamically loaded bearings. In final parts of this thesis are presented most interesting results obtained from computational analysis.
Design of polymer coating sprayer
Meluzín, Ondřej ; Repka, Martin (referee) ; Šperka, Petr (advisor)
This master’s thesis is aimed on design of polymer coating machine that sprays polymer sliding coatings onto surfaces of crankshaft journal bearings used in car engines. At the beginning of this master’s thesis, basic overview of crankshaft bearings design and materials that are used for sliding coatings is given. Then suitable manufacturing technologies for different materials of coatings are described. After describing basic principles of coating technologies and how crankshaft bearings work, main components used for design of the spraying machine are introduced. Three prototypes of the machine are created in virtual environment to verify ergonomics of control and to fulfill safety requirements. In main part of the thesis, description of all parts and subassemblies, such as frame, spraying circuit, pneumatic regulators and safety features is given. Also functions of all parts of the machine are explained in details. Moreover system for handling and manipulation with coated bearings during all necessary technological operations was created. In addition functionality of the machine was verified and checked by spraying of polymer coating on testing samples and crankshaft bearings.
Slide Bearings Test Bench
Palán, David ; Knotek, Jiří (referee) ; Maršálek, Ondřej (advisor)
This master’s thesis is focused on measurement of electrical contact resistance. The beginning of the thesis is devoted to the introduction of the electrical contact resistance and electrical parameters of journal bearings. Next part of the thesis deals with engineering design of test rig. In order to verify functional measurement principle, the test rig based on engineering design has been made. In the end of the thesis the measuring devices and the measuring process is described. The measurement results from the test rig are presented.
Research on the textured journal bearings for engines in automotive
Svoboda, Martin ; Hartl, Martin (referee) ; Omasta, Milan (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to describe the effect of surface textures of radial journal bearings with polymer coating on friction and damage development using experimental tests. Wear and friction tests of real bearings with different texture geometries and surface materials were performed. It was found that the wear deterioration of the textured aluminum sliding bearing surface and neutral or positive effects on the wear of the textured bearing with polymer coating. The reason for the improvement is the good resistance to high pressures of the polymer coating and the preservation of the texture dimensions throughout the bearing run. The friction test showed an improvement in the frictional properties of the textured surfaces when the amount of lubricant in contact was insufficient. At the same time, a positive effect on tribological properties was demonstrated by reducing the lateral lubricant discharge.
Experimental Determination of Turbocharger Mechanical Losses
Kudláček, Petr ; Doman, Jozef (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with mechanical losses in turbochargers. The theoretical part provides general information of the methods of support the turbocharger rotor, then focuses on hydrodynamic bearings. The thesis analyzes the occurrence of mechanical losses and the effects that affect them. An important part of this thesis focuses on the determination of mechanical losses and their possibilities. A test stand was compiled for the possibility of experimental measurement of mechanical losses. Several test measurements were performed on this test stand at different operating modes. Simultaneously, the determination of mechanical losses was performed using two other methods. Based on these measurements, it was also possible to perform an evaluation and analyze the occurrence of mechanical losses depending on the set operating conditions. A comparison of individual methods for determining mechanical losses performed in the experimental part was performed. At the end of the thesis, the possibilities of the test stand were defined based on the performed measurements.
