The research question deals with the importance of welfare officers´ work in the context of complex care of the clients at the centres of educational care. To achieve the objectives, qualitative research was used and for its implementation, one of the centres of educational care in the South Bohemian Region provided its premises. The research was conducted through semi-structured interviews. The results showed the main tasks of welfare officers include communication with the institutions for social and legal protection of children (OSPOD), participation in entry interviews, administration, but also processing of statistical data. The research showed that most of the communication partners considered observation and interview as the chief methods used in the individual work. The complex diagnostics of the clients was the main objective and that was why the individual communication partners mentioned diagnostic methods and tests as the most common techniques within the group work.
