Čutková, Michaela ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Hráský, Pavel (referee)
Title: Relationship between hand grip strength and cognitive function in older adults over 65 years of age Goals: The main goal of this diploma thesis was to find out possible links between hand grip strength and cognitive functions in older adults over 65 years of age Method: As part of the master's thesis, a secondary analysis of data from the international cross- sectional study conducted within the Survey of Health Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) project was performed. The participants of the study were divided into seven categories based on their educational attainment, separately for both men and women. Generalized linear models were calculated for each of the mentioned categories as part of the data analysis. Results: The survey included a total of 38,519 participants with an average age of 74.00 ± 6.7 years from 18 countries worldwide. More than half of the participants were women. In the data analysis, it was found that the most represented educational group among the participants was the third group with higher secondary education, as defined by the ISCED 2011 classification. The tables indicate that values of all percentiles increase linearly with higher levels of education. This result suggests that higher education is associated with better performance in the examined test....
Deep Neural Networks for Historical Document Classification
Pinkeová, Bettina ; Kohút, Jan (referee) ; Kišš, Martin (advisor)
The aim of this work is to create a system for historical documents classification . The task is specifically about classification of documents according to the place of origin. Several systems are proposed for solving this problem, in the work. The first designed and implemented system is based on a convolutional neural network with a self-attention mechanism instead of an average pooling layer. Another system is based on the BEiT model, which is built on a visual transformer. The BEiT model was pretrained on the task of masked image modelling and subsequently trained on the given classification task. The system based on convolutional neural network achieved an accuracy of 81.6% and the system based on masked image modelling achieved an accuracy of 82.9%. The systems implemented in this work, surpassed the systems participating in the ICDAR 2021 conference in terms of success.
Specifics of tennis training for children with ADHD
Slavíková, Magdalena ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Specifics of tennis training for children with ADHD Objectives: The main objective of this study was to propose a set of educational-psychological recommendations and strategies for coaches and parents to maximize the effectiveness and positive effects of tennis training for children with the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods: Three children with ADHD were observed during tennis training. The observation took place during a training session. This method allowed the author to collect data directly in the children's environment. In addition, a controlled structured interview based on ten prepared questions that focused on working with children with ADHD was conducted with a coach of the three children mentioned above. The interview related to working with children with ADHD, teaching strategies and the future of these children in tennis. The interview data were analyzed using the grounded theory, which helped to identify key aspects and patterns in the coach's responses. The results of these analyzes were used to create proposals for pedagogical strategies for working with children with ADHD in tennis. Results: The results of our study provide a comprehensive picture of the situation of children with ADHD in the context of tennis training. Observation revealed specific...
The impact of the use of digital technologies on the attention of pupils of the 1st grade of primary school
Weishäuplová, Jana ; Ronková, Jolana (advisor) ; Laufková, Veronika (referee)
The thesis deals with the issue of the influence of the use of digital technologies on the attention of primary school pupils. The aim of the thesis was to map/find out the positive and negative consequences/impacts of the use of digital technologies on the attention of primary school pupils, to evaluate the results of this impact in favour or against their use and to propose suitable solutions/recommendations for practice. The thesis was based on the assumption that 1st grade primary school students excessively use digital technologies such as smart phones, tablets, laptops or smart watches, which has a negative effect on their attention. To achieve the set goal, the thesis was divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. For the processing of the theoretical part of the thesis, the method of literary research was used, thanks to which the current theoretical knowledge and the results of research in the given issue were summarized. A quantitative research method through a questionnaire survey and an attention test were used to process the practical part of the thesis. The evaluation of the effect of the use of digital technologies on the attention of primary school pupils was carried out on the basis of a questionnaire survey and an attention test for 112 primary school pupils. The...
The short-time effect of smartphone usage on active selective visual atenttion
Nehasil, Lukáš ; Veselý, Viktor (advisor) ; Kučerová, Klára (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the short-term effect of a smartphone usage on selective visual attention. The aim of this work was to examine whether there is a change in active selective visual attention after a single exposure to smartphone. The second objective was to find out if the sports organizations somehow restrict the use of mobile phones prior to the athletes' performance. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the development in attention research and findings of recent studies, concerning smartphone effects and attention. Methodology: For the assessment of changes in attention the d2 Attention Test was used. The first testing was performed after using a smartphone for 10 minutes, the following testing was done without prior phone usage. Representatives of Prague sports organizations were contacted to answer questions regarding the mobile phone restriction in their club. Results: Results show better concentration performance when testing without prior smartphone usage. The concentration performance after the smartphone usage is in the range of 83% - 95% of the concentration performance without prior exposition to the smartphone (with the 95% confidence interval). Additionally, there was no statistically significant difference observed between the first two rows and the rest of the...

Attention Based High Resolution Image Classification
HEINDL, Dominik
Modern digital images, especially in the field of medicine, have extremely high resolutions. Current state-of-the-art image recognition techniques, like Convolutional Neural Networks, cannot handle such high dimensional inputs. In this thesis I compared the standard approach ofclassifying images by downscaling them with an attention-based Multiple Instance Learning approach where the original image is split up into several smaller patches and low dimensional embeddings are calculated for each patch by a Convolutional Neural Network. All low dimensional embeddings are then again processed in a MIL fashion, where attention-pooling is used to determine the importance of each patch. The data set for this thesis consisted of ultra high resolution histological slides of human skin which were classified to contain Basal Cell Carcinoma or not.
The Effect of Arousal on the Learning Process
TORÁČOVÁ, Kamila
This bachelor thesis deals with the study of the influence of low-arousal (low-activation) and high-arousal (high-activation) music on the learning process. The theoretical part deals with the process of learning, attention, the mechanism of memory and the conceptualization of arousal as an emotional component and a general component of activation in the field of music. The practical part will be performed in the form of an experiment, in which the learning process will be influenced by the presentation of standardized music recordings evaluated on the basis of arousal. Memorabilia tasks are chosen as experimental tasks, and data analysis will address differences in memorization rates based on the presence of variation of musical activity. The experiment consists of two parts, in the first part the probands try to memorize number series and in the second part a group of words.
A Spectacle in Circus - Distraction, Concentration?
Machalíková, Pavla
The text takes as its starting point the thesis of Jonathan Crary about the fragmentation of modern society and modern perception. As an example, it takes circus posters and announcements for the Bich circus society in Prague shortly after 1800. It analyses circus as a specific type of modern spectacle which manipulates the perception of the viewer in ways similar to manipulations in modern art.
