Annen Gate
Illéš, Ján ; Eichlerová, Eva (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
A multifunctional city block is designed for the currently empty place in Brno, on the corner of Pekarská and Anenská streets. The urban, architectural and material-spatial solution tries to respect the scale and cultural-historical context of the place. The proposed main function of housing is enlivened by additional functions of administration and trade and services on the ground floor. The corner is an important compositional point and the proposed round and glazed shape of the building will form a visual dominant on the view from Pekarská Street. In the city block, the inner space of the courtyard is created, in which the historical heritage of the retaining wall of the hill on which the church once stood is presented. The passage through the city block is possible in the route of the former street U sv. Anny. The lack of green spaces in the courtyard is compensated by the creation of green roofs for residents and users. The architectural expression of the townhouse tries to follow the traditions of modernism, typical for the city of Brno.

Kvaššay, Lukáš ; Vágner, Lukáš (referee) ; Jura, Pavel (advisor)
Selected site is located on the outskirts of the city centre of Brno, at a crossroad of streets Stará and Bratislavská. The area of the site is 3402 m2. The building is designed to respond to urban disposition, pedestrian paths and needs of the city. Main goal of the project was to design a polyfunctional building which includes housing units, parking lot, shops and also sports hall. The proposal of sports hall is based on connection with possibilities of the site and needs of nearby preschool and elementary school which is dealing with issues of its sports hall unsatisfactory capacity. The sports hall will be also available for general public. Another goal of the project was design of area in front of entrance of Radosť theater which is situated next to the site. The building consists of two main parts with different heights. The sports hall is also integrated to the object with height separation from main parts. The object was sensibly incorporated to adjacent buildings. This layout clearly defines three main spaces between the parts of building with distinct features. There is public piazzetta located in front of the Radosť theater which supports its cultural significance. Between the two main parts there is semipublic open space which includes children playground. Semiprivate space is situated on the north side of the object and offers rentable gardens. The building was designed with consistency with a sustainable development.
Intensive Urban Housing Brno
Račko, Valentín ; Zadražilová, Miroslava (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor)
This master thesis is exploring a possibility of densifying traditional block structure of a city by the design of a multifunctional building. It is located in Brno exactly in Brno centrum city part. The building site is defined by Veveří, Kounicova and Pekárenská streets. On the forth side there is existing block of flats on the Sokolská Street. The design itself is based on the form of a traditional enclosed block of flats, but masses are oriented differently. The basic principle is layering when first two floors are commercially oriented and therefore accessible by public. Living areas are separated by position above. The roof, connecting all of the buildings, is taking role of a traditional courtyard. In this case, it stays visually connected with surrounding street life and newly formed commercial parts. Masses of the complex are reflecting different city structures on each side. It encloses on the side of the Veveří Street which creates undisturbed street corridor. New structure opens more to Kounicova Street and reflects free city pattern of this part.

Gracová, Michaela ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor) ; Bantová, Sylva (advisor)
The main aim of this Bachelor's thesis was to create multifunctional building in Brno - Líšeň. The plot is located in the cadastre unit Líšeň on sloping land which is accessible from the northern road with heavy traffic - Novolíšeňská. The nearby area is mostly filled with residential buildings, panel residential buildings from the '80s of the 20th century and family houses, though in a smaller extent. Condition of design was to choose an appropriate combination of housing and services. The goal of design was to create an attractive building for the current market and not to disrupt existing buildings. Therefore, a simple shape of the object was chosen using modern materials and components. The building is characterized by a combination of two main materials that are concrete and wood. Another important factor for the design was the southern slope that makes a possibility to use views on the city and the sunlight for living quarters. This five-storey building is divided into residential part, part of the services and technical facilities. Open commercial space with facilities are situated in the first floor. From second to fourth above-ground floors consist of a housing units. The technical facilities and other spaces belonging to the residential part are located in the basement of the building. The individual functional units are defined by volume and material. Commercial space opens to the public through a glass facade. The residential part is coated in sleek cement-gray color accompanied by wooden windows. Technical basement is hidden behind a dark gray facade as supporting structure of the first floor. The central element of the building are concrete stairs. Its dominant part is atypical wooden railing. The whole staircase is visible from the north side through a glass facade of the entrance hall of the building.
