Tax Systems of Countries of the Former British India

India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, today the three independent states, were once part of one of the colonies of Great Britain. This thesis briefly describes the former colonial taxation and then concentrates on the tax systems in these developing countries. Then the tax systems are compared. It is assessed how systems are doing in the current conditions of globalization and whether the features of its tax systems confirm typical features for developing countries.
The development of the garment industry in Bangladesh and its influence on the economy in the 1980s and 1990s

The bachelor thesis focuses on the development of the garment industry in Bangladesh and its influence on selected sectors in the 1980s and 1990s. For example, the influence on export, employment or foreign direct investments is examined. The consequences for the economic development and international trade integration are also discussed. Furthermore an evaluation of advantages resulting from the Multifibre Arrangement and duty-free market access to the EU is also part of the thesis. It shows that the advantages have been of crucial importance for the development of Bangladeshi apparel industry.
Czech-Bangladesh trade cooperation, taking into account cultural differences

The bachelor's thesis describes the historical development and current state of bilateral trade relations between the Czech Republic and Bangladesh. It also includes current issues of cultural differences, as their knowledge is essential for business cooperation. The main objective is to provide information about the business environment of Bangladesh market to the Czech companies and investors. The work defined several opportunities for Czech companies in Bangladesh market. The work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is a sort of introduction of Bangladesh. This chapter is about geographic data, a brief historical description of Bangladesh and economic and business environment of Bangladesh. The second chapter is devoted to cultural and social specificities of Bangladesh. Some part of this chapter is devoted to poverty and foreign assistance. The third chapter focuses on the analysis of business cooperation between the Czech republic and Bangladesh. The aim of this chapter is to analyze the development of business cooperation between these two countries. In the fourth chapter there is a description of a process of business meeting of the Czech Republic and Bangladesh. The last chapter is a practical part of my work. I contacted three companies that cooperate with Bangladesh, and I have gathered from them by means of interviews and questionnaires some valuable information on cooperation with that country. The conclusion summarizes the key findings from the work entails. I also answer the question whether the Bangladesh market is interesting and promising for Czech companies and entrepreneurs in the future.
The Right of Peoples to Self-determination as a Factor of International Relations

This paper explores the current understanding of the right of peoples to self-determination and its impact on international relations. A number of new states have gained international recognition outside the scope of decolonisation, several of which have not fulfilled the usual criteria for statehood, based on existing state practice. In addition, the parent states of Bangladesh, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Kosovo have not consented to the secession of these territories. The main purpose of this paper is to determine whether based on the stipulations of international documents and mainly on existing state practice, it is possible to verify the existence of a customary law enabling peoples to unilaterally secede. Such a right would pose a threat to the future application of the principle of territorial integrity as one of the basic principles of international relations. In order to answer this question I compare case studies of successful and unsuccessful nations striving for their own state outside the realm of decolonisation. Based on this comparison I analyse the current understanding of the right to self-determination and its impact on international relations. I conclude by stating that it is not possible to unambiguously confirm the existence of such a right. However, in practice the principle of territorial integrity is being breached nonetheless, due to persisting uncertainties regarding the possible application of secession by peoples whose internal right to self-determination was not respected. Together with the fact that the current concept of self-determination ignores collective rights of national groups, this poses a threat to international stability.
Historical and Political Factors Influencing Relations between India and Pakistan

The objective of this thesis is to provide the reader with an overview of the most important factors that have influenced the development of the India-Pakistan relations. The period of the colonial British India is treated, as well as the consequences of its dismantling. The most crucial conflicts between India and Pakistan are analysed, along with their impact on the mutual relations. The origins of the grudge between Hindus and Muslims are explained in the indo- pakistani context. Having analysed the causes and consequences of the dissolution of Pakistan, the author of this paper focuses on mutual indo-pakistani cooperation, as well as the role of nuclear weapons with regard to the contemporary problems of both countries.
Microfinance - poverty reduction tool

This diploma thesis focuses on microfinance, it's basic characteristics and general principles of it's function. It introduces microfinance approaches, development of microfinance, microfinancial services and microfinance providers. Two largest microfinance institutions in Bangladesh, Grameen bank a BRAC, illustrate how microfinance works, helps to empower the poor and reduces their poverty in one of the poorest countries in the world.
