HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE?
Jálová, Kateřina ; Illéš, Juraj (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
The diploma thesis is based on the pre-diploma project, which deals with the vacant buildings after the railway is moved from the center of Brno to the newly proposed location of the transport hub according to the KAM study. The diploma project focuses specifically on the heritage-listed building of the Brno main railway station. The aim is to find a suitable function for this building and to integrate it into the context between the historic center and the newly built southern quarter. The proposal also solves the building's surroundings, which include the area of the vacant railway track and the station forecourt with its complex traffic situation, which has been one of the least popular public spaces in the city for many years.

HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE?
Valíček, Viktor ; Illéš, Juraj (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE? "I'll tell you how. It will be pretty crappy!" (visitor to the exhibition of the same name as the pre-graduate analytical project, 2024) The purpose of the urbanistic-architectural inquiry entitled "How to move on when the station is gone?" is particularly focused on the scenario where several historically protected buildings of significant urban importance in Brno lose their function due to the relocation of a major railway junction. That means, for the preservation of a functional city structure, it is necessary to find a new and equally significant utilization. Especially considering the location and real as well as abstract significance of these buildings. A crucial aspect is the location at the interface between the newly emerging city district in a brownfield area without identity and the oldest historic city center. Former structures associated with the railway aspire to become new significant urban landmarks capable of mediating the soul and identity of Brno to the new district. Connection is the main theme introduced by the urbanistic concept for the conversion of the area, developed in collaboration with the atelier colleagues Šimon Mareček and Kateřina Jálová. The study also builds upon the ideas of the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno, especially the concept of completing the green urban circuit (following the example of Vienna's Ringstrasse) and the idea of revealing the historic so-called Ferdinand Viaduct. The area is further divided into three consecutive sections (subtitles of three diploma theses). This work primarily focuses on the conversion of the released Amerika building and the newly designed urban space 'underlining the dominant feature of Brno - the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul'. "If a book of unfinished pages lies in front of us, its structure is already inscribed in the essence of the work itself." (Prof. Ivan Koleček, 2010) Amerika possesses an amazing genius loci and great potential to become a significant landmark for its surroundings. The "book of unfinished pages" of the former warehouse building has a structure so distinct and valuable that its violent rewriting would border on sacrilege. The building needs to be approached with extreme sensitivity, highlighting its qualities and adapting the space to new functions with necessary delicate interventions to avoid the destruction of the "structure of the work itself". The project aims to improve access to the building, creating connections with the adjacent park to the east through the revealed Ferdinand Viaduct and with the future city street with multifunctional buildings to the west. Better accessibility of the building is ensured by a level connection leading through a symbolic gate from the newly designed houses opening onto the proposed square beneath Petrov (the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Paul) to the main urban transport hub.
Revitalization of Technical Museum Brno
Sirová, Kristýna ; Zemánek, Václav (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
Project of revitalization of Technical museum Brno deals with extension of its complex. Museum has not enough capacity to shelter and expose all its large vehicles. The extension of transport museum is designed as an urban complex based on axes. The large architectural scale presents monumental objects as small as collection of toys. Typology is minimalistic and variable so it could react on various demands of exhibitions designers and public. Analytical part examines researches about museum exhibition's evolution and contemporary trends.

Science & Technology Park in Zlín
Šimoníček, Stanislav ; Svoboda, Jiří (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
Subject of my graduation theses was to define an isolated room of the Práce square, to create a central assembly room, which is isolated from the traffic of the adjacent Tomáš Baťa avenue, to complete dominant buildings of the Bata’s period, to stimulate and to make attractive it for the pedestrians and to design a traffic, street’s and new street’s lay-out, to draw a scientific and technical park and living in the city centre, parking places pro the new designed objects. The architectural - urban project is solving a new function of the square, which originally used as ascending area for then expanding Bata’s plants. After failure of the plants has the square lost his function. The designed solution removes the cars, respects viewed axes, and creates a new raster due to straighten of Březnicka Street, which is parallel to the “green axe”, which separates the old and the new part of Zlín, vertical to Tomáš Baťa avenue. It is bringing new restaurants, coffee-bars, shops, housings and jobs. Scientific and Technical Park concludes the square from the north site. It is designed at the place, where formally a hospital building were - in front of he building 21. It is continuing towards the street and joins the faculty of management and economies with the new university centre. The building height is similar as the surrounding buildings. It is parted in two parts; between them is the viewed axe through the district of SVIT. Block of flats concludes the square form the west. Orientation of the flats is also to the east – west. The flats can serve for the employees, too, for the neighbouring Scientific and Technical Park. Kce is from skeleton and is brick-faces KLINKER, which corresponds to the surrounding building-up area. It contains smaller flats to 100 m2, category 2+eating nook, and 1+eating nook.

Revitalization of Technical Museum Brno
Kinnert, Filip ; Zemánek, Václav (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
Museum is firstly a public building in the city. Although, most of the work of collection, conservation and restauration is being done behind a closed door, with the museum's significance and location it has a great importance by co-creating the city environment. Reviving of our defined project area is potentially a big step for reviving the whole suburb. Technical museum of Brno has relatively good position nearby the Technology park, but currently not using much of the potential. This project adsresses these posibilities and propose a urban solution for enrichment of the museum to become a full-blown place IN THE CITY, a place for meeting, passing through and stopping by.
