Images of Children and Youth about the Work of Journalists

The aim of the thesis "Images of Children and Youth about the Work of Journalists" is typification the Czech journalist and his workload by children and adolescents from the age group 10-16. Moreover thesis is working with subjective children's and youth's attitudes to the profession. The first theoretical part is searching the definition of the journalistic profession in the literature and sumarizes past research on similar topics. Novel research is the core of the whole work. The questionnaire survey was carried out in primary and secondary schools in Prague, Central Bohemian region and Hradec Králové region, 153 questionnaires for younger respondents and 180 for older respondents were processed, a total of 333 completed questionnaires. The questionnaire asked for socio-demographic data about a notion of typical journalist (age, sex, place of residence, income, education...), it's personality (characteristics), journalism as a lucrative profession (rating of respondents) and a normal working day of the journalist (timetable of activities and place of presence). Semi-structured depth interwviews with four other respondents who were to clarify and confirm the results of the survey followed, namely to verify their reliability. Hipster Subculture in Czech Republic

The subject of the thesis Hipster Subculture in Czech Republic is to chart contemporary urban culture. The first part defines the subculture concept itself and handles especially the postmodern approaches. The second, core, part prospects origins of the hipster subculture and defines its era. It subsequently describes a hipster based on various topics associated with the subculture identification (age and gender, appearance, taste in music, education, profession and economical situation, interests, residency, life attitudes and stances and subcultural identity). Hipster subculture confrontation with both negative and positive criticism in mass society follows in this study. The theoretical part of the report is based not only on the previous expert study in the field but also panel discussions, American society survey results as well as journalistic style essays. Finally, the third part, containing semi­structured interview research, should validate and specify the data gained from previous chapters and also fit the hipster subculture into the Czech environment. The thesis aims to construct the definition of a hipster and answer the introduced research topics.
Didactic utilization of advertisement videos in Czech foreign language teaching

The subject of the diploma thesis Didactic utilization of advertisement videos in Czech foreign language teaching is to point out the low integration of commercial audiovisual material into the language teaching. Fundamental principles and processes of communicative approach are presented in the theoretical part. The thesis then follows up with the role of video in the choice of proper audiovisual material. Concrete activities for video inclusion in learning are proposed. Advertisement texts are defined next, space is also given to the advertisement itself and guidelines for creating learning materials. The practical part is dedicated to analyse content of current textbooks of Czech language for foreigners which shows the work with video, respectively advertisement videos. Consequently, four lessons for language levels A1, A2, B1, B2 according to CEFR were presented and distributed to Czech foreign language teachers. Materials were tested in various types of teaching groups by means of a questionnaire survey and short interviews and then the acquired data were evaluated. Respondents also expressed how often they perform video-based activities, confirming the hypothesis about minimal use of video in Czech language courses for non- native speakers.
