Communication with elderly people from the perspective of nursing staff

Bachelor thesis deals with the communication with elderly people from the perspective of nursing staff. It describing in detail topic verbal and nonverbal communication and its importance in interaction with elderly people, then its works with age, aging process and associated changes. Main goal and basis bachelor thesis are research investigation. It finds out the most suitable ways of communication with elderly people in retirement home. Researching methods is quantitative questionnaire, examined respondents are nursing staff how they communicate in home for the elderly, specifically in 3 homes for the elderly in Prague. Informing the lay public about stroke and its prevention

The bachelor's thesis "The lay public's awareness of stroke and its prevention" examines the lay public's awareness of stroke and its prevention in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The aim of the work was to determine the level of awareness of the lay public about stroke and its prevention options, with regard to comparing the situation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The theoretical part of the work provides a complete overview of the basic anatomy of the brain, including its vascular supply, the mechanisms of this disease, symptomatic manifestations, diagnostic procedures, therapeutic options and preventive measures related to cerebrovascular accident. The empirical part contains the results of the own exploratory investigation. The exploratory research method was a survey available in both language versions - self-edited. The survey was distributed via an online form. A total of 334 duly completed forms were included in the research, 241 from the Czech Republic and 93 from the Slovak Republic. The specifics of nursing care of a patient with an inserted PICC - awareness of nurses

This bachelor's thesis discusses the treatment of PICC catheters. The theoretical part of the thesis provides comprehensive information about the PICC catheter and about the specifics of care for patients with an inserted PICC. The thesis mainly focuses on the treatment of this access under aseptic conditions in order to prevent catheter infection, where the correct procedure of the nurse is important. At the same time, the goal is for the provided information to agree with the current recommendations of national and international companies involved in creating educational resources to treat long-term vascular accesses. The aim of the empirical part of this bachelor's thesis is to obtain information about nurses' knowledge on treating PICC catheters through quantitative research. Data collection was conducted in a selected hospital using self-designed questionnaires. The questionnaire consists of 25 questions, of which 14 questions are used to verify knowledge of the given topic. 150 questionnaires were distributed and 109 questionnaires were returned for analysis. Educational material for parents of children with allergy to cow's milk protein

The bachelor's thesis "Educational material for parents of children with an allergy to cow protein" deals with the issue of informing parents of children with an allergy to cow protein. The goal of the work was to create educational material that will help parents of children understand the essence of diagnosed CMPA and help provide an overview of the care options for a child with the disease. The educational material was created on the basis of data obtained regarding parents' awareness through a survey. The theoretical part of the thesis provides an overview of the definition of allergy, diagnosis of allergy and treatment of allergy. It provides a comprehensive overview of the entire issue of CMPA and the nutrition of children with CMPA. We also focus on education in our work and present existing educational materials and previously conducted studies related to CMPA. In the empirical part of the thesis, the results of the own survey are presented. The research method was a questionnaire survey, 258 duly completed questionnaires were included in the study itself. Nursing care of a patient with an inserted Midline catheter and mini-midline - nurses' awareness

Aim: The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze and explore the nurses' knowledge of the nursing care of the pediatric patient with an inserted Midline and mini-midline catheter. Through a questionnaire survey to find out the level of nurse's knowledge regarding Midline and mini-midline catheters and their nursing practices. The theoretical section discusses midline venous access and its classifications, specifically Midline, mini-Midline and PICC catheters including their indications, contraindications, insertion procedures, complications and extractions. It also discusses the nursing care of these midline venous accesses. The last section concludes with the PICC team, nurse competencies, and certified courses. Methods: The empirical part of the thesis includes data collected through a self-constructed questionnaire survey. The data obtained are presented in sectional diagrams and summary tables. The importance of experiential education in the higher education of nurses is a topic that deserves to be treated, but unfortunately in the Czech Republic it is basically unexplored compared to abroad. Hence, in the discussion, the results of the research investigation within this bachelor thesis were compared only with foreign studies. The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to document the findings on the impact of experiential learning on the quality of teaching of subjects where this teaching method is used in the study of nursing. Furthermore, to document the findings on the positives and negatives of the experiential learning method from the perspective of nursing students and to map the subjective perceptions and benefits of experiential learning by nursing students. The bachelor thesis has two parts. The theoretical part focuses on defining the experiential education system and its different components. The bachelor thesis "Palliative Care in Paediatric Oncology" investigated and compared the awareness of general and Paediatric nurses working at the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology of Motol University Hospital and at the Children's Clinic of Motol University Hospital. The study aimed to determine the attitudes, awareness, and educational opportunities of nurses in Pediatric Palliative Care. The theoretical part of the study described the field of Paediatric oncology and listed the most common types of cancer affecting children. The next part consisted of a description of the field of Pediatric Palliative Care, facilities providing palliative care to children, the importance of palliative care in Pediatric Oncology, and end-of-life care. The needs of children in the terminal stage and the needs of the family were highlighted. The nurse's role in Pediatric Palliative Care, the competencies of nurses, and their training in this area were also discussed in the thesis. Informedness of parents and family members of pediatric patients about lymphedema

This bachelor thesis "Informedness of Parents and Family Members of Pediatric Patients about Lymphedema" focuses on the informedness of parents (caregivers) of a pediatric patient about the lymphedema disease. The goal of the work was to determine the state of informedness of parents and family members of a pediatric patient in the area of lymphedema and the dependence between this informedness and some parameters of the researched group and various types of information. A non-standard questionnaire of an own construction was chosen as the research method. The questionary was distributed in paper and online form through specialized healthcare facilities and through private Facebook groups focusing on lymphedema. 59 questionnaires were included in the survey. The results of this survey showed that the respondents' informedness is at a good level, regardless of the respondents' education and the time since the first symptoms of the disease. Communication strategies in managing an aggressive patient

The bachelor thesis on the topic "Communication strategies in coping with an aggressive patient" focuses on the issue of patient aggression in emergency departments. In the theoretical part, there is an excursion into the issue, which generally deals with the causes of aggression and the role of communication in solving and preventing aggression. The empirical part is devoted to the evaluation of data obtained in the form of a non-standardized questionnaire on a sample of 102 respondents from five hospital facilities. The evaluation found that 96% of all respondents encounter a manifestation of aggression, with verbal aggression predominating, but a high proportion of brachial aggression was also found. Brachial aggression is reported by 78% of respondents. The most common target of aggression is nursing staff. The most common cause of aggression was clearly identified as intoxication of the patient, where alcohol was the riskiest substance. The results revealed several interesting findings, especially the declining sense of self-confidence to handle a physically aggressive patient with increasing age of the respondents. Sexual harassment of nurses by patients

The bachelor's thesis entitled "Sexual harassment of nurses by patients" discusses sexual harassment in the healthcare sector. Objectives: the purpose of the work is to determine the frequency and form of sexual harassment of nurses by patients, to determine the response of nurses and to compare sexual harassment of nurses in surgical and internal departments. In the theoretical part of the thesis, sexual harassment is defined according to international institutions. Sexual harassment in the healthcare sector, its recognition, risks, prevention and remedial solutions are further described. In the empirical part, the results of the own survey, statistical treatment of hypotheses and comparison of the results with other studies are presented. Methods: To achieve the aims of the work, a questionnaire survey was carried out, the target group of which was nurses from six teaching hospitals in the Czech Republic from internal or surgical clinics. 482 completed questionnaires were collected. Results: A third of the respondents answered that they had been sexually harassed by the patient, and in almost one hundred percent of the cases, the aggressor was a man.
