Metabolomics Study of the Association between Pancreatic Cancer and Diabetes Mellitus.
Michálková, Lenka ; Horník, Štěpán ; Sýkora, Jan ; Habartová, L. ; Setnička, V.
In our study, 1H NMR metabolomics was employed to plasma samples of pancreatic cancer patients, individuals with long-term diabetes mellitus type 2 (lasting more than 5 years) and healthy controls. The NMR analyses were followed by establishing a statistical model based on principal component analysis and discriminant analysis. The aim was to discover differences between these groups and to define a potential biomarker panel. The statistical evaluation of metabolomics-based profiles provided high values of sensitivity and specificity. Subsequently, plasma samples of the risk group, specifically patients with recently diagnosed diabetes mellitus with a duration of <3 years (possible T3cDM), were analysed and the possibility of PC development was predicted. The achieved results showed strong potential of 1H NMR metabolomics to establish a biomarker panel that would facilitate the early diagnosis of PC and the possibility identify diabetic individuals, who are at risk of developing PC.

Michálková, Lenka ; Komárková, Tereza (advisor) ; Strouhal, Martin (referee)
The thesis with the name "Children's book as a possible educational tool for the tolerance of homoparental families" is focused on gay parenting, prevention of homophobia and content analysis of children's books which contains the topic of gay parenting. The aim of the thesis is to let teachers and the public know about the topic of homoparental families and to show them books which can be useful in helping them understand them. The theoretical part of my thesis is divided into five main chapters which describe the main concepts connected with the thesis. The first chapter describes sexual orientation, the history of homosexuality and how a person becomes homosexual. There are many various opinions from many authors who focus on this topic. The second chapter describes the difference between registered partnership and marriage. There are different kinds of families and different opinions on normality and gender in the third chapter. The topics of homoparental families and raising children in gay families are included in the fourth chapter. And the last chapter is about children's books and why they are important for children and their development. The practical part is focused on content analysis of children's books whose topics include gay parenting and are available in the Czech Republic. The aim...

Factors that lead to the start of human trafficking
Michálková, Lenka ; Šťastná, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Večerka, Kazimír (referee)
This thesis is focused on the topic of human trafficking. The main aim is to find out the internal factors leading a person to become a victim of human trafficking. The term human trafficking is explained from many points of view such as social work, prevention and legislation. The chapters are focused on explaining what human trafficking is and how it is different from other similar terms which are really easy to confuse with it. This thesis is also about the mechanism of human trafficking and factors leading to the situation of human trafficking. I conducted interviews with some victims of human trafficking to explore the internal factors that led them to making their decision. The practical part of the thesis includes six interviews which I summarized and included three of them written word for word in the appendix of the thesis. I analyzed the interviews and set the codes and categories which I compared to the internal categories written in books that include the factors that lead people to human trafficking. From this comparison, I made new categories to work with. I interpreted the new categories and found new factors leading to the situation of human trafficking. The factors that lead a person to becoming a victim of human trafficking are having a nonfunctional family base, having a low...
