Stability and controllability evaluation of the four-seater, single-engined airplane
Matějů, Jiří ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Daněk, Vladimír (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with evaluation and suggestion of changes for the conceptual design of an airplane TL4000 in terms of stability and controllability. In the first part there are determined stability and controllability derivativations of the aircraft. Thereafter are estimated aircraft weight, moment of inertia and necessary geometric characteristics. In the second part there are calculated stability criteria for a sample case. In the third part, on the basis of this calculation, a program is created. This program combines the advantages of MS Excel, Matlab and Matlab Simulink. By means of this program criteria of stability and controllability were calculated parametrically for different regimes of flight, identified critical cases and compared with the requirements of CS-23rd. Based on this evaluation were recommanded modifications of the conceptual design TL4000.
VUT100 aircraft engine oil cooling installation optimization
Mackovík, Matěj ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
The mein objective of this diploma thesis is to optimize the oil cooler of the VUT 100 aircraft, so that it complies with the CS-23 regulation and requirements of the engine producer. This is fulfilled by using of suitable oil cooler and by optimization of the air duct. Computational Fluid Dynamics approach – namely Ansys Fluent software package is used for it.
Stability and Manoeuvrability of Experimental Aircraft VUT 001 Marabu
Marešová, Eva ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Kouřil, Martin (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with a stability and manoeuvrability of experimental aircraft VUT 001 MARABU. It contains calculation of aerodynamic stability derivations and other data necessary for evaluation of static and dynamic stability. Assessment of convenient autopilot.
Alternative ways to take off and land for fixed-wing aircrafts
Cäsar, Tomáš ; Matějů, Jiří (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
Target of this thesis was to propose and evaluate workability in matter of basic physical principles for shortening lengths of take-off and landing distances especially for small, single-seated aircrafts. These variants were proposed in order to be used at building roofs for transport of employees to work and back. Every variant is presented with loads, which would affect aircraft and pilot and also estimated runway length for comparison with classic landing. Calculations were made for two versions of aircrafts, one for present, achievable with current technologies and second futuristic, which takes into account expected development in aviation.
Human powered airplanes overview
Valuch, Tomáš ; Koštial, Rostislav (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
In this bachelor thesis is elaborated historical development of human-powered aircrafts. The aim is to asses an overview of human-powered aircraft, to evaluate trends in the airframe structure and evaluate trends of specific design parameters. The first part deals with the historical development of the aircrafts. The next part focuses on the description of Kremer‘s prices and their importance for the development of this aircraft category. The following describes the structural components of the airframe and structural parameters. These parameters and flight performance are assessed. The last section is devoted to future developments and accomplishments records.
Flight performance of racing RC gliders
Hájek, Tomáš ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Pejchar, Jan (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is about flight performance of category F3K, radio-controlled gliders. It has list of flight tasks performed during competition and characteristics of different flight modes. The paper presents important performance characteristics and the methodology for their measurement.
Airfoils Evolution and Summary
Kerndl, Jindřich ; Dofek, Ivan (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes the evolution and overview of airfoils. The first part is about the airfoil characteristics and their significance. The second part reflects the historical evolution of airfoils for piston engine powered aircraft. The conclusion compares the airfoils of currently used light sport aircraft of Czech and foreign producers.
Integration of XFOIL software in MATLAB environment
Křižák, Michal ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Dofek, Ivan (advisor)
Thesis is concerned with program which is able to run and control XFOIL from MATLAB environment. This program is focused on bulk data processing and plotting of XFOIL results. Thesis is also concerned with brief description of XFOIL and MATLAB, description of profile characteristics and comparison numbers used in calculation by XFOIL.
Aircraft speed Measurement
Mokoš, Marian ; Jebáček, Ivo (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
The Bachelor´s thesis is focused on the measurement of flight especially the speed of the aircraft. The first part includes the list of aircraft on-board instruments, measurement errors and the types of speeds. The principle of an aircraft speedmeters and the list of probes subdivided by measuring the speed of flight are mentioned. The second part is focused on unmanned aerial vehicle SPECTO and choosing the appropriate probe for this aircraft.
Gliders in Today's Aviation
Schoř, Pavel ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Šošovička, Róbert (advisor)
The introduction of this bachelor`s thesis deals with a brief history of gliders. Second chapter explains basic principles of unpowered aircraft flight, including the principle, how an unpowered glider can climb. Commonly used take-off methods are also mentioned. In all chapters, the examples are explained on Standard Cirrus glider, because it is very widespread in Czech Republic and is financially well affordable. Third chapter describes natural principles, which are used by glider pilots to gain an altitude. An extra attention is paid to gaining an altitude in thermals. In fourth chapter, the gliders are divided according to their purpose and sporting category. Short description of glider construction is mentioned, including a description of instruments, which are necessary for a cross country flight. The description of cross country flight is mentioned at end of this chapter. Last chapter compares Standard Cirrus glider with SZD 56-2, which is one of the today`s best 15m gliders. The main purpose is to illustrate the progress in glider designing, which was achieved during last 40 years, in the light of previous chapters.
