The Phenomenon of Piano Tone Color
Jurčík, Vlastimil ; Krajný, Boris (advisor) ; Šimonková, Dagmar (referee) ; Malý, František (referee)
This work deals with the question of how we are able to objectively observe changes in the piano's tone color according to changes in the pianist's touch. The intension of this work is to demonstrate to the reader, a thorough comparison of data and information so that the phenomenon at hand can be understood in depth, rather than superficially. In order to achieve this it is necessary to find basic elements pertaining to the matter, analyse them and apply them to an audible model. To do this one must analised the characteristic of tone color, the piano's mechanism, and finally the psychology of the listner's perception. In order to support certain logical considerations, the results of several modern experiments are reviewed which are however unable to replace one's logical conclusions.
