Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá výsekem tvorby hudebního skladatele a pedagoga Pavla Bořkovce ( 1894 - 1972). Z Bořkovcova rozsáhlého díla si vybírá jeho smyčcová kvarteta. První část práce nastiňuje Bořkovcovo rodinné zázemí, vzdělání a počáteční léta jeho tvorby, v nichž prošel několika vývojovými vlivy, až se z něj stal respektovaný český kompponista, jenž čerpal především z postupů avantgardy. Historiografickou část doplňuje oddíl, který se věnuje rozboru všech pěti Bořkovcových kvartetů, jež napsal v rozmezí čtyřiceti let. I. smyčcový kvartet ještě nese rysy díla Bořkovcova pedagoga Josefa Suka, dalším kvartetem již naznačuje svou integrální cestu. Třetí kvartet zůstal sice torsem, čtvrtý a pátý však vykazují mistrovské rysy Bořkovcovy komorní tvorby. Pavel Bořkovec (1894 - 1972 ) was an outstanding Czech music composer and teacher.This bachelor work deals with a certain part of his work, five string quartets in particular. The first chapter introduces Bořkovec's family background, education base and also first steps of his professional composer career.He had gone through several influences, later he became a respected composer inspired by the best sources of a Czech Avant-garde movement of zhe thirties. This part is followed by a chapter analysing his five string quartets,written during the period of forty years.Since the First String Quartet was composed under the influence of Bořkovec's beloved teacher Josef Suk, the second one proves his own way.The third one remained in torso. The Fourth and the Fifth String Quartets demonstrate the mastery of Bořkovec's chamber work.
