Analýza chyb a možností zlepšení frázového strojového překladu z angličtiny do urdštiny
Ata, Naila ; Bojar, Ondřej (advisor) ; Zeman, Daniel (referee)
This thesis evaluates the translation quality of phrase-based machine translation system. It explains the translation error annotation scheme to manually annotate errors related to English to Urdu translation system. The primary goal of the thesis is to experiment with different heuristic in order to improve the translation quality based on through manual analysis of 200 test sentences. Different hueristics such as (1) pre-processing of input English, such as word reordering, (2) preprocessing the training corpus in order to improve word alignment, (3) using additional factors (in Moses factored translation) to better model target-side morphological coherence are applied and their impact on the translation quality is evaluated.
Automatické zjednodušování textů pro překlad
Prokopová, Magdalena ; Zeman, Daniel (referee) ; Kuboň, Vladislav (advisor)
This thesis describes one of the areas where automatic simpli fication can be used: simpli cation of texts for machine translation. We start by comparing methods of automatic simpli cation and controlled language, describing their similarities and di erences. Further on we focus only on automatic simpli cation used as a preprocessing step for machine translation. We describe what issues can be solved and address some of them using our own system ASOFT. A text preprocessed by ASOFT is intended to be translated by a machine translation system PC Translator. We evaluate the output of the PC Translator using two automatic methods, BLEU and NIST scores, and one method of human evaluation. In the end we propose other issues that can be addressed by means of automatic simpli fication.
Machine Translation to Czech via Lemmatized Text
Viktorinová, Eva ; Zeman, Daniel (referee) ; Bojar, Ondřej (advisor)
This work tries to improve machine translation from English to Czech language. It describes issue of rich Czech morphology and suggests several methods of solving this problem by lemmatization of Czech text. The translating with alternative decoding paths, where the rst path translates from English to Czech and the second one from English to lemmatized Czech, is studied more closely.
Czech techno subculture on change of the century
Zeman, Daniel ; Pargač, Jan (advisor) ; Tomandl, Miloš (referee)
Techno subculture has often been discussed in public and media in the last decade. Police intervention during CZECHTEK 2005 raised the question within the excited discussion: "What is the essence of techno"? The overflow of unprofessional explanations published in media, following the incident, created the demand on serious explanation of the phenomenon. This work tries to explain the phenomenon of subcultures genesis with the help of theory outlined by Van Gennep and further extended by Victor Turner, i.e. subcultures are understood as archetypal continuation of initiation rituals in modern industrial society. Techno party is a ritual way how to create the anti-structure area and establish a liminoid environment in which the adolescents realize their relativity through the changed status of mind and they develop the attitudes to each other as well as within the society. As any social phenomenon fulfils more functions at the same time, this interpretation must be considered as one of the possible explanations. Furthermore also the work of Michel Maffesoli and the idea of neotribalism are taken into consideration. This work also reflects the evolution of subcultures from the beginning to the present and at the same time it reflects the studies of the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies in Birmingham and...
Automatic processing of law amendments
Mareček, David ; Klusáček, David (referee) ; Zeman, Daniel (advisor)
Law amendments are unreadable for normal people and do not provide the actual wording of the law. The complete versions of laws are usually published after several amendments, if at all. The amendments often contain sentences like "the dot is substituted by comma at the end of the paragraph, and words . . . are added", "after the second sentence, insert the sentence . . .", "the new wording of the paragraph number 12 is . . .". The main goal of this work is to create an application that will be able to read a given law together with its amendments and create the complete version of the law. A few laws were chosen to test the application, and an accuracy of 95% has been achieved.
