Subjective assessment of English language level of university students from education and economic programmes: the use of anchoring vignette method
Hourová, Kateřina ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Zvírotský, Michal (referee)
This study looks at the application of the anchoring vignettes method in evaluating university students' level of English language. The theoretical part of the study describes the possibilities of language level measurement, Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and outlines the anchoring vignette method. Works of other authors using this method in different fields (including pedagogy) are also mentioned. One chapter is dedicated to self- assessment and its synonyms - how they are used in practice and research. The practical part presents the results of the author's original survey. Questionnaires were administered on pedagogical and business students in the comparison of self-assessment and objective knowledge survey. This work has illustrated the diversity of usage of the self-assessment scales, undervaluation of the students and the difference between the self-evaluation before and after the correction by the anchoring vignettes. In addition, the findings of this study show that the order of the self-assessment scale and the anchoring vignettes in the questionnaire matters and that placing the vignettes after the self-assessment is preferable.

The summary of available information about surveys dealing with students' feedback for teachers and the analyses of those surveys belong among the main points of the theoretical part. The aim of the empirical part is to compare the key categories among the surveys and to generalise the basic educational themes and issues the surveys are dealing with. Another goal is to examine, whether the content of the surveys is similar and can be compared to our educational reality. We will analyse this through the comparison of the surveys' key categories and the proposed Czech and German teacher standards. We also compare the content of the surveys with the Czech general didactics literature. Final step is to present the surveys and their topics to...

Relationship between the use of alcohol and tobacco and subjective well-being among 6th graders
Černá, Michala ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Gabrhelík, Roman (referee)
Mental health, integral part of the general health, has recently been increasingly associated with a term well-being. An alarming problem which occurs not only in Czech society is a high degree of early use of legal addictive substances (alcohol and tobacco) among children. This thesis provides an insight into the issue of the use of addictive substances by children in the context of subjective perception of personal well-being. Finding the prevalence of the use of these substances among children enabled the identification of links between the use and several factors which altogether represent subjective well-being. Satisfaction with oneself has proved insignificant in relation to substance abuse. Furthermore, it was found that children can compensate low self-esteem for alcohol. Based on these data using logistic regression there was designed a mathematical model which allows, while knowing the factors of personal well-being, the prediction of the probability of the use of tobacco and alcohol among children. Key words: prevention, substance abuse, well-being, alcohol, tobacco, logistic regression
