Validity of primary motor area localization with fMRI versus electric cortical stimulation: A comparative study.
Bartoš, Robert ; Petrovický, Pavel (advisor) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee) ; Tintěra, Jaroslav (referee)
During my postgraduate studies, I have been working on the problems of surgery on eloquently located intrinsic brain tumors in a wider context. Towards the end of my research work, the technically challenging insular glioma surgery became the main topic. ln general, the radicality of the resection is an acceptable favourable prognostic factor even in low grade gliomas. However, for a safe resection to be possible, a mere knowledge of anatomy is not sufficient. In cases, where a suspicion of an eloquent tumor location arises, careful consideration should be made regarding the the position and the relationship of the functional cortex to the tumor. This consideration can be aided by the use of functional magnetic resonance results. ln our study, functional magnetic resonance was reliable in 83% of patients operated on a tumor in the central motor area (15/18). The distances between the fMRI activated cluster and the ECS targets were within the range of 5mm (error inherent for target-Iocalizing accuracy of neuronavigation system) in 20/26 of our measurements. The spread of the BOLD activation volume is significantly lower during more restrictive corrected thresholding P<0.05c. In all patients with this fMRI threshold, the concordance with the ECS result was absolute. If the volume of the gained corrected fMRI...

Müllerová, Jana ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Pastor, Zlatko (referee) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee)
Thesis title: Personality characteristics and sexuality of women before and after labiaplasty Thesis objectives: Determine the personality and sexology characteristics of women requesting labiaplasty plastic surgery, including examination of the risk of physical dysmorphic disorder in these women before and after they undergo the procedure. The main objective of the thesis is to determine the basic personality characteristics of female applicants, conduct screening for physical dysmorphic disorder, determine the characteristics of their sexual behaviour, identify potential differences in comparison with the general population and further examine whether labiaplasty itself leads to changes in their psychological characteristics, or possibly to improvement of their sexual experience or changes in their sexual behaviour. Thesis methodology: The research was carried out by a quantitative method of questioning, in the form of a questionnaire survey through standardised questionnaires arranged in a test battery. Personality characteristics were examined with the NEO-FFI personality clinical questionnaire, while a questionnaire relating to concerns about physical dysmorphic disorder, known abroad as DCQ, and a specially designed questionnaire for women requesting labiaplasty, known abroad as COPS-L, were...

Sexual dysfunction amongst czech women
Hollá, Kateřina ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee) ; Uzel, Radim (referee)
Theoretical part Currently accepted new conceptualization of women's sexual dysfunction is based on the model found in the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-IV) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD). These classifications are extended and combined interpersonal, contextual, personalpsychological and biological factors. Recent DSM- IV definitions have focused on absence of sexual fantasies and sexual desireprior to sexual activity and arousal, even though the frequencyof this type of desire is known to vary greatly among women without sexual complaints. DSM-IV definitions also focus on genital swelling and lubrication, entities known to correlate poorly with subjective sexual arousal and pleasure. The structure of the new classification is based on the four categories of DSM-IV: disorders of desire, arousal, orgasm and pain. However these categories are newly assigned to the subjective dimension of satisfaction, stress and the presence of disorders during other sexual activities besides intercourse. The dimension lifetime vs. acquired, generalized vs. situational were added, as well as the etiology is taking into account. For clinical work it is important that these changes highlight the significance and importance of psychological, situational...

Kotková, Petra ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee) ; Gerlová, Erika (referee)
Objective: Presented paper deals with the topic of sexual functions of women with Parkinson's disease (PD). The research was aimed into detailed description of the sexual life and behaviour of women with PD and comparation of these characteristics with the research conclusions from the representative longitudinal research of sexual behaviour of the corresponding set of women in the Czech republic in 2008 which, was realized by Weiss and Zvěřina. Research sample: Forty eight women with PD (age 45 - 59), who took part in recondition residence for patients with PD between the years 2008 - 2010. Material and method: With the view of descripton and analysis of sexual functions a special questionnaire battery was created containing sociodemographic questionnaire, modified version of sexology questionnaire from the representative research of Weiss and Zvěřina, questionnaire of sexual functions of women (FSFI) and questionnaire of sexual satisfaction (GRISS). The most frequent sexual problems in this sample are: problems with reaching orgasm, lack of lubrication, hurtfulness of sexual intercourse. These women prefer significantly more often extracoital...
Hierarchy and human behavior. BDSM as an alternative sexual behaviour.
Jozífková, Eva ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Bob, Petr (referee) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee)
Preferences for sexual arousal by overstated dominance and submission in sex is categorized as F65.5, sadomasochism, according to ICD, but this behaviour is called BDSM among the general public. The ground of these preferences could be ultimately biological. These preferences reflect behavioural strategy which enables to gain higher reproductive success. Men and women who were sexually aroused by a submissive partner had more male relatives than men and women with other preferences. Contrary to the women, the dominant men reported themselves as more attractive. Women who were aroused by a higher-ranking partner considered themselves more attractive. Sons of couples in which was hierarchical disparity had more siblings than sons of "equal" couples or couples with no hierarchical disparity. Daughters of hierarchically disparate couples had more brothers than daughters of "both dominant" partners. Concurrently, number and gender of offspring as well as self- reported attractiveness are likely to be criteria of the reproductive success in humans. It is also interesting that hierarchically disparate couples, without regard to gender of higher-ranking partner, reached higher reproductive success than "equal" couples. Individuals who preferred higher- or lower-ranking partner were also aroused by...
Determinants of Sexual Satisfaction in Czech Men
Kamnerdsiri, Watcharaphol Alexandre ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee) ; Zámečník, Libor (referee)
MUDr. Watcharaphol Alexandre Kamnerdsiri Determinants of Sexual Satisfaction in Czech Men Page 1 of 5 Determinants of Sexual Satisfaction in Czech Men Abstract Very legitimately, medicine as well as medical literature, especially in the field of sexology, focuses on the study and treatment of all disorders and dysfunctions that affect the human race and its sexuality. Through this thesis, we attempted to resist against this general trend and sought anything that would facilitate or promote a man's achievement of an accomplished and happy sexuality. These terms imply a sexuality that satisfies this man. There is indeed nothing more subjective than sexual satisfaction, despite the easy access to pornographic material that tends to introduce some elements of comparison in the mind of each man, however unrealistic. There are many tools to measure sexual satisfaction. However, it has been demonstrated that assessing sexual satisfaction with a single question is nearly as reliable as using more detailed questionnaires. As this thesis is integrated into a much larger research based on a 90-item questionnaire, it was decided to use only one question regarding sexual satisfaction. However, it has been divided into two variants, one on the overall sex life satisfaction, and the other on the recent sexual satisfaction...
