Aerodynamic tuning of small sports airplane
Orság, Boris ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the experimental modification of the aerodynamic elements of the aircraft and their testing for the influence and performance of the aircraft during the flight. The introduction acquaints the reader with the class of ultralight sports aircraft and specifies the aircraft used for the experiment. The following is a research part of selected aerodynamic effects on the performance and characteristics of the aircraft in flight and also describes the types of airflow. The experimental part describes the assumed design errors of the aerodynamic surfaces of the aircraft and its bonnet, with the experimental solution and the results obtained. Evaluation describes the effectiveness and meaningfulness of individual adjustments based on the results of the experiment.
In-flight measurements of micro aerial vehicles
Málek, Ladislav ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Dvořák, Petr (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with flight measurements on selected unmanned platforms within the project Detection and monitoring of invasive spieces using unmanned aircraft. Firstly, the project itself and the platform used are presented. The theoretical part is devoted to methods of measuring flight performance. Finally, thesis contains used measurement methodology, processing and evaluating of data.
Survey of Competition Aircraft of Aero L-159 Alca
Bartoněk, Jaroslav ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Dofek, Ivan (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis deals with military training and lightweight multi-role continuation trainers which are comparable with the Aero L-159 ALCA. Here, a survey of the most important airplanes is created, of their using, technical data, historical development and mutual comparison based on their flight performances and other properties. Aero L-159 ALCA is the latest construction of training and multi-role aircraft of the company Aero Vodochody and the successor of the traning airplane L-39 Albatros.
VUT100 aircraft engine oil cooling installation optimization
Mackovík, Matěj ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
The mein objective of this diploma thesis is to optimize the oil cooler of the VUT 100 aircraft, so that it complies with the CS-23 regulation and requirements of the engine producer. This is fulfilled by using of suitable oil cooler and by optimization of the air duct. Computational Fluid Dynamics approach – namely Ansys Fluent software package is used for it.
Integration of XFOIL software in MATLAB environment
Křižák, Michal ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Dofek, Ivan (advisor)
Thesis is concerned with program which is able to run and control XFOIL from MATLAB environment. This program is focused on bulk data processing and plotting of XFOIL results. Thesis is also concerned with brief description of XFOIL and MATLAB, description of profile characteristics and comparison numbers used in calculation by XFOIL.
Universal characteristics of piston engines with a propeller
Šafránek, Martin ; Matějů, Jiří (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
Determining the characteristics of piston engines with a propeller is a complex task. Accurate calculations are based on engine and propeller characteristics from the manufacturers, which are, however, quite demanding. It is also possible to use simplified models that can predict the achievable values of propeller efficiency and fuel consumption. They are based on a simple propeller efficiency and maximum power. However, these models are often very inaccurate, which is a significant disadvantage. Therefore, it is possible to use the universal characteristics of propeller propulsion units, which offers a more accurate calculation of power and fuel consumption using a relatively simple model. The diploma thesis deals with a summary description of all characteristics of reciprocating internal combustion engines and propellers. A mathematical model was created here, which works according to a certain algorithm based on the joint work of the engine and the propeller. This model can predict the required power and fuel consumption in different flight modes much more accurately. The results were applied to the performance of ultralight aircraft, especially to the range, which was significantly increased.
Airfoils Evolution and Summary
Kerndl, Jindřich ; Dofek, Ivan (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes the evolution and overview of airfoils. The first part is about the airfoil characteristics and their significance. The second part reflects the historical evolution of airfoils for piston engine powered aircraft. The conclusion compares the airfoils of currently used light sport aircraft of Czech and foreign producers.
Airborne wind energy system
Killioglu, Can ; Popela, Robert (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
The master's thesis deals with the issue of flying wind turbines, which is an innovative area of renewable energy. The main advantage of these power plants over conventional wind turbines is their ability to reach higher altitudes and thus take advantage of stronger wind conditions. An important part of the thesis is the aerodynamic analysis of the rotor in autorotation mode, which investigates the behaviour of the propeller rotor. Furthermore, the conceptual and structural design of a selected type of flying wind turbine is carried out.
Recent progress in pilot-aircraft haptic feedback
Suchnová, Klára ; Horpatzká, Michaela (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the recent progress in pilot-aircraft haptic feedback. Haptic feedback is intended to help the pilot perform his tasks more easily. Above all, it should focus on relieving the strain on his vision and hearing to increase flight safety. It can be used not only for the actual control of the aircraft but also for other tasks such as navigation. Haptic systems bring a lot of advantages in the actual control of the aircraft, but they also have their disadvantages in certain cases.
Aircraft simulation model and analysis tool
