Fashion as a Differend

The work called Fashion as a Differend presents the demands of critics of fashion and shows that they are in decomposition with its definition as defined by J. - F. Lyotard in the context of a postmodern condition. It argues that discourse overriding the demands of fashion critics is asymetrical with discourse within which fashion is defined. It turns out that there is a logical paradox with regard to the essence of fashion, which is transience or rapid change (at least as fast a change in society) and the floating demand for slowing down, stability and other criticisms that are linked to its transformation.

Body, Surveillance and Ethics PhD Thesis Mgr. Martin Charvát, Ph.D. Abstract The aim of my dissertation thesis is to analyze the dispositions of non-normative ethics as presented in works of M. Foucault, G. Deleuze and J. Derrida. My hypothesis is that non- normative ethics must be conceived as an interpretation and thematization of the meaning of the relationship between body, surveillance, event and experiment. What brings together Foucault, Deleuze and Derrida is the critique of externally constituted moral codes that are always creating a historically-economically-polico-socially determined subject, or certain norms of conduction and behaviour that are considered to be "good" or "right". However, the above-mentioned authors have based their conceptions on the belief that the human life should be characterized by freedom, or the potential of articulation of an individual (or his behaviour/action), regardless of external moral determinations. Foucault, Deleuze and Derrida distinguish the possibility of a constant crossing of given institutional and socially grounded constraints, with the goal of the constant shaping of ones live that would not be restricted by normative and prescriptive rules. History of sports newsroom in Czechoslovak/Czech Radio

The thesis deals with the history of the sports editorial office in essence for 95 years of radio broadcasting. Sports broadcasts began to be part of the broadcast just a few years after broadcasting and became an integral part of the broadcast. These broadcasts were first reported by Josef Laufer, later a separate editorial was created. This was significantly influenced by the Communist regime until 1990, although it had no direct influence on the broadcast itself. For their versatility, the sports editors were also engaged in significant non- sporting events as well as participating significantly in the broadcasting of the 1968 August events. After the Revolution, the editorial staff had to be redesigned and coped with the emergence of new media that took its exclusivity on the radio sporting results. Nowadays, sports editors face severe competition in the online world and internet communications, but at the same time they must also create content for these new media.

Interpretations and overinterpretations of Alice in Wonderland

The subject of this thesis are interpretations and overinterpretatios of Lewis Carroll's work Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. That includes interpretations based on autor's life and the historical period which he lived in, psychoanalytic, feministic and psychedelic interpretations and those which perceive Alice's story as a game. In this thesis there are also mentioned adaptations based on motives of both novels. We use a theory of interpretation of Umberto Eco to distinguish between these interpretations. This theory is used in our own analysis in which we focus on crucial aspects. That means the behaviour of the main character and vice versa, identity of Alice, context, genre and the model reader of the naration. We also focus on these aspects in the selected interpretations. The emphasis is put on the proces of dialectics between the text and its reader which these interpretations and overinterpretations come from. We also try to see it from the point of view of the aproach to the text. That is why this case study reveals a problem of remake and adaptation.

The form of frame in motion picture and animated cartoon movie

The thesis is aiming it's focus on various different forms of frame in motion picture and animated cartoon movie. When it comes to physics, animated cartoon movie can operate with completely new concept of media intended content, what opens endless amount of possible interpretations and feelings about the movie. Thesis takes film theory of G. Deleuze, with theories of H. Bergson, Jurij Lotman and with semiotics of drawing and photography (Barthes, Eco) as root theoretical background. The main aim of this work is to apply the film theory by Gilles Deleuze on animated movie.

Conflict and blending of cultural signs in fictional world of novels by Louise Erdrich

The aim of this paper is to inspect the work of Louise Erdrich with the optics of semiotics, literary theory and cultural anthropology and to find topics related to the cultural conflict of Native American and Christian tradition. The theoretical part is devoted to the theories of the ontological definition of the fictional world, its relation to culture and its construction within a literary piece. In the practical part, we will deal with the cultural features associated with nature, religion, space and social ordering, as they are illustrated in the novels. The paper is not an anthropological material dealing with Native American culture as such. Here we perform a literary analysis and examine the anthropomorphic dimension of the unique fictional world.
