Dvořáková, Michaela ; Calda, Miloš (advisor) ; Fojtek, Vít (referee)
INTRODUCTION The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States affirms that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting thefree exercise thereof.... It was primarily the first part of the provision, commonly referred to as the Establishment Clause that has become a major point of contention and debate among justices and legal scholars alike. While advocates of textual interpretation maintain that Congress is not allowed to establish a national church but can provide aid to religion on a nondiscriminatory basis, others prefer a wider interpretation, barring Congress from any interference with religion and banning religious practices in all institutions falling within the governmental sphere. In a landmark case of Everson v. Board of Education (1947), in an attempt to define for the first time the parameters of the Establishment Clause, the Supreme Court justices unanimously declared the second, wider approach to be the basis of the Supreme Court'sjurisprudence in religion-related cases. To justify their interpretation, they referred to Thomas Jefferson and his "wall of separation," which they viewed as a symbol of an absolute separation between church and the state, and held, it was to remain "high and impregnable." Using this "high and impregnable wall" as...

Fleissigová, Lucie ; Dvořáková, Michaela (referee) ; Županič, Jan (advisor)
The topic of my bachelor's thesis is the wedding of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria with countess Sophie Chotek and the circumstances that have influenced the wedding. Particularly, the Czech press' attitude towards the wedding is analyzed. The first two introductory chapters are dealing with the lives of Franz Ferdinand and Sophie before they have met; the reformative plans of the Archduke and also their home-to-be Konopiště. The main focus of my thesis lies in the third and the fourth chapters. The third chapter is depicting their relationship from the day they have met, their subséquent struggle for the opportunity of marriage, their happy marriage that ended up by the joint death in the year 1914 in Sarajevo. The last chapter is dedicated to the Czech press' reaction to the relationship of the newly weds and Frantisek's renouncement oath, in which he gave up ail succession for his wife and possible offspring which were, in context of their marriage, mentioned the most frequently. At the same time we are following the effort of the press to inform in detail about the wedding ceremony itself.

Malíková, Erika ; Dvořáková, Markéta (referee) ; Dvořáková, Michaela (advisor)
The Bachelor thesis Popular Architecture in Wallachia is mainly focused on describing folk house, which was the work of the population of Wallachia itself and best captures the character of this area. The folk house is described from the theoretical point of view on the basis of professional literature in the Batchelor thesis, however also folk houses which are currently located on its original site are described. Their documentation and description shows to what extent the houses have changed and to what extent they retain their original character. The Bachelor thesis should also point out that despite its simplicity, the Wallachian folk houses are unique and important monuments of popular architecture. Regarding structure of the thesis it consists of four chapters which are further divided. The first chapter is devoted to descriptions of the types of folk house, its specificities through the different regions and its functions. The second chapter focuses on the definition, natural conditions and history of Wallachia, since the three aforementioned factors influenced the folk architecture of the area. The third chapter describes the Wallachian house, bailiff and salaš construction, as they are the characteristic buildings of Wallachia. In the fourth and the last chapter the popular architecture monuments...

European pilgrim place in the view of 21st century
Girgelová, Jana ; Dvořáková, Michaela (referee) ; Dvořáková, Markéta (advisor)
The peregrination, the pilgrimage and the visiting of pilgrim places have always belonged to the human lives inherently. The roots of Christian pilgrim places following Jewish tradition may be probably found in Jerusalem. Currently the modern man has a need to find these places and address to them not only in pressure. This bachelor thesis describes key moments concerning the pilgrim places and their transformations in the history. The bachelor thesis is focused on the one of the most visited European pilgrim places which is situated in France - Lourdes. We include it in cultural heritage and we understand it as a part of the European identity. This place is not like other cathedrals and churches which we admire as the monuments. This place can address us spiritually. Lourdes is one of the Marian pilgrim places and it is famous thanks to Bernadette Soubirous who repeatedly had apparitions of Our Lady in 1858. The bachelor thesis also tries to represent the importance of the pilgrim places for the medieval and for the modern man and to describe their attitudes to them or how their approach has changed.
