Poverty in the developing world - selected impacts and solutions

The thesis analyzes the problematic of poverty in the developing world. The first section defines poverty, its measurment and discusses the main impacts on the population of the developing world. It includes the three most important ones, namely hunger, bad health and illiteracy. The second section focuses on the Millennium Development Goals and their current level of fulfillment. Subsequently, it describes some possible policies of alleviating poverty that are conducted by the developed world, such as development aid, condonement of debt of developing countries and their integration into international trade.

The Spanish economy at the beginning of the 21st century

This paper analyses the current economic situation in Spain, according to its development in the near past. Apart from the influence of the the global financial and economic crises, the internal factors are also mentioned. These are mainly the creation of the real estate property bubble and the dependence of the economy on the building industry. The main point is to explain the causes and results of the crisis Spain is going through and to outline the future prospects of the Spanish economy.

Food insecurity in developing countries

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to point out that the battle against hunger can be won in our lifetime. However, this problem can not be solved without concerning all connections between undernutrition and other global problems. This thesis contains an analysis of various aspects of health, education, population growth, agriculture or trade which are strongly related to poor nutritional status. The technology, knowledge and resources exist to meet the needs of hungry. As it was revealed in my study, they should not been implemented unless they respect mutual links between different problems.

The competitiveness of human capital in new member states of the EU

This thesis focuses on the competitiveness of the new members of the European Union in the range of human capital. The aim of the thesis is to find out the competitive advantage of new member states. In the first chapter, I attend to human capital and its position in economy in general. In the second chapter, I compare new member countries with each other and with other members in the range of education (concretely the educational structure, the educational expenses and the quality of education) and labour costs. Then is compared the quality and the price of human capital in particular countries and indicated the possible development in the future.

ASEAN and her significance in Southeast Asia

The bachelor's thesis is concerned with basic agreements and treaties of Association of Southeast Asian Nations and depicts the progressive switch towards economic cooperation. It describes economic development of particular member's countries in the context of this cooperation using GDP per capita, inflow of FDI, external trade and intra-trade. The next chapter summarizes these indicators for ASEAN as a whole. There is mentioned external relations with several non-member countries and regional integrations in the last chapter.

International Trade and Competitiveness of Ukraine

This work deals with the theoretical concept of national competitiveness, analyzes the development of Ukraine's foreign trade in selected areas and measures competitiveness of Ukraine using an alternative method of measurement. This method is based on analysis of comparative advantages in foreign trade of Ukraine and the extent of their use. The results are compared with selected international competitiveness rankings. As these rankings, also this work evaluates Ukraine as a little competitive, but with the improving trends.
