Fictionalization of History in History Teaching

99 Summary The topic of this Diploma thesis focuses on Fictionalization of History in History Teaching. This area is closely connected with Eduard Štorch. Eduard Štorch was an amateur archaeologist, a very good writer and an undervalued teacher. Based on topics which he drew from a variety of archaeological research projects he created and wrote adventure stories which can be classified as somewhere between fiction and popular science stories in which he described oldest periods of Czech history. His books are still recognised today as the very best of their kind and they have been translated into a number of foreign languages. As a teacher, Štorch did his utmost to improve children's education. At his own expense and almost single-handedly he built a "Children's Farm" on Libeňský ostrov in Prague. It was meant as a place for educating children not only inside a classroom but also in the middle of nature. Children from other schools in Prague were encouraged to use the outdoors facilities there in their free time as well. Eduard Štorch tried to promote and enforce changes in the teaching of all school subjects but concentrated on the teaching of history. Czechoslovak-Mongolian political, economical and cultural relations 1968-1984

This thesis research relations between Czechoslovakia and the Mongolian People's Republic during the normalization process. The work is focused on the transformation of relations between both countries from the Prague Spring period to the revocation of Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal in 1984. The remaining five chapters, covering the time scope of foreign policy, monitor economical relationships, ideological and cultural section of Czechoslovak-Mongolian relations during the normalization process. The content of the thesis draws chiefly primary sources: government delegations, period articles, official reports, cultural campaigns and other archival material. Thanks to these sources it was possible to authentically describe relations of both countries

Diese Arbeit hatte zum Ziel, ein Manual für die Arbeit mit dem ausgewählten Querschnittsthema zu schaffen, das Grundschullehrern bei der Festigung ihrer eigenen Lehrpläne behilflich ist. Ich habe mich intschieden, einen Entwurf für die Arbeit mit dem Querschnittstheme "multikulturelle Schulausbildungů im Geschichtsuntericht in der siebenten Klasse an Grundschulen anzufertigen. Mein Entwurf beinhaltet konkrete Beispiele von Tätigkeiten sowie Fragen, Übungen, Produkte, Realisirungsvorschläge usw. Alles wird durch Bildmaterial ergänzt. Am Schluss habe ich Beispiele leicht zugänglicher Literatur angeführt, mit der Lehrer in den Schulstunden arbeiten können. Ich meine die Ziele erreicht zu haben, die ich mir in der Einleitung habe; und vielleicht wird diese Arbeit denjenigen Lehrern zuträglich sein, die sich bemühen, ihren eigenen Lehrplan zu fertigen.

Cílem mé diplomové práce je zpracování historie města Říčan, jeho blízkého okolí a využití ve výuce. K splnění tohoto cíle bylo nutno vypracovat, sestavit a podat přehled o vývoji říčanského regionu. Tento region je nazván podle jedné z nej výraznějších osobností české kultury Ladův kraj. Josef Lada čerpal inspiraci z tohoto regionu po celý svůj život a oblast mezi Hrusicemi a Prahou označil za nádherný kraj. Mikroregion Ladův kraj založilo 19 obcí a jeho cílem je rozvoj cestovního ruchu a kultury. Logem Ladova kraje je slavná kresba vodníka na vrbě. Ve své práci podávám souhrnné informace o městě a zároveň odkazuji na literaturu, ve které se zájemce dočte o jednotlivých aspektech více. Hlavním cílem práce je ukázat možnosti využití regionální vlastivědy ve výuce na 1. stupni základní školy a vypracovat program pro žáky ZŠ, který bude realizován v hodinách vlastivědy i v rámci mimoškolní výuky, a pochopit odpověď na otázku proč se učit o minulosti naší vlasti či obce? Diploma Thesis Project teaching - Monuments and personalities in Uhříněves is a project that was created with the primary school pupils as an example of the possible use of regional history in teaching. The thesis contains theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is a summary of information from available literature. In this part of the thesis is closer introduced to the benefits and importance of regional history for history teaching in primary schools , along with anchoring regional history in the curriculum. There are also shown working methods, organizational forms and teaching aids, which the teacher can use in assigning regional history teaching. The practical part presents the project itself, its preparation, implementation and evaluation of the effectiveness of including the problems that occurred during the project, and the possibilities of how to avoid the problem. There are also outlined options for further use of the project. The thesis includes both text and image attachments that document the project.

Project teaching: The greatest people of Kladno

This diploma thesis deals with the project that should have introduced 14 personalities who made famous the city of Kladno and its surroundings. The project was defined for chosen students from The Grammar School of Kladno. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part relates to the issue of importance and contribution of regional history. Practical part describes in detail process and results of the project. The project contains of 14 personalities from the history of Kladno, the layout of lessons dealing with these personalities and biographies of personalities that were worked out by students as a result of the project.
Historical genesis of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands

The following work will examine the historical genesis of the unit that will serve the Orthodox Church in the Czech lands. It will also defend the religious doctrine of that community and its relations with the state and other Christian denominations, especially with those that have historically had to reflect, and with those that have traditionally dominated the Czech territory and share in the co-importance of the national ethos. In our diploma thesis we try to respond to the questions of the origin of Orthodoxy, its development in history, its arrival in our territory, and its fate here. The subject of our research will be examined mainly from the historical point of view, but with some interdisciplinary intersections, especially in the field of literary history, linguistics, religion and comparative cultural studies in religion and collective psychology in determining and influencing the Czech nation's own national identity. Of course, all this with a critical distance, but also with a feeling for the spirit of the relevant epoch.
The use of regional history in history classes with examples from Kladno region

The diploma thesis titled "The use of regional history in history classes with examples from Kladno region" deals with the topic of regional history, the history of the Kladno region and questionnaire about teaching regional history at schools in the Kladno region. It also offers a thought how this topic can be included in the history classes. One of the primary objectives of this thesis was to explain the importance of regional history and its inclusion in education. Relevant specialized literature was thoroughly analyzed for this purpose. The inclusion of this topic is especially important in order for the pupils to better understand various historical phenomena through an environment which is familiar to them. Another important objective was to find out whether regional history is being taught at all at schools in the Kladno region, what forms are used for this purpose, and which topics are included. In order to find the answers a questionnaire was sent to the teachers and pupils in the Kladno region. The results suggest that the majority of teachers attempt to include regional history in their history classes, even when faced with unfavorable time allotment. Czechoslovakia under communist totalitarianism in film and series and their use for education

This diploma thesis focuses on the appropriate and effective use of film and serial adaptations of topics falling into the period of communist totalitarianism in Czechoslovakia (that is between 1948 and 1989, with emphasis on the period 1948-1969). The thesis is divided into four chapters, whereas the main part, which is didactic, is described in the third and fourth chapter. The first chapter describes the basic historical context of the communist government in Czechoslovakia between 1948 and 1989. It also shows and explains the origin of the idea of communism, the further development of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia during the First Republic, and the postwar Third Republic. This chapter was put together using found edited sources and secondary literature. The second chapter deals with individual film and serial processing of topics related to the period. It presents specific films and series which were produced in the most recent years (or the post-revolutionary period), but also materials produced during the totalitarianism before 1989. In this chapter some works are discussed in greater detail, others are presented as selected alternative options for interaction for educational purposes.
