Denní chody asimilace uhlíku v listech buku vystaveného přirozené a zvýšené koncentraci CO2
Košvancová, Martina ; Kalina, J. ; Urban, Otmar
In this study, we estimated the major photosynthetic responses of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) seedlings to the impact of elevated carbon dioxide concentration ([CO2]). We focused on the diurnal changes in Rubisco (ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/ oxygenase) enzyme activity. Rubisco catalyses carboxylation of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP), the first step of photosynthetic carbon assimilation, in competition with oxygenation of RuBP that leads to the photorespiratory pathway. Our analysis shows that the short-term exposure to elevated [CO2] doesn’t change the carboxylation properties of Rubisco enzyme. The significant increase in CO2 assimilation rate is thus caused mainly by the suppressed photorespiration.
The adaptation of spring barley to a combined effect of elevated CO2 and high irradiance monitored by gass exchange and Chl a fluorescence
Kurasová, I. ; Štroch, M. ; Urban, Otmar ; Kalina, J. ; Špunda, V.
A potential of barley to adapt to various growth rradiances (100, 730, 1200 uE)and CO2 concemtrations (350 and 700 ppm) was studied using techniques of gas exchange, room temperature Chl a fluorescence and pigment analysis.
Risk analysis and its significance for management information systems
Kadochová, Lucie ; Svatá, Vlasta (advisor) ; Kalina, Jaroslav (referee)
Work is focused on summarizing progress in the development of risk analysis and its importance for businesses. Work includes the analytical procedure over the definition of assets for the firm important to identify the hazards involved and asset also includes a process for the final risk analysis, including methodologies, which can develop a risk analysis. The work also includes a basic overview of laws, rules and regulations covering the analysis and risk management, and that can be used in the analysis.
Broadband Internet connection in the Czech Republic and in selected countries (EU and non EU)
Nemejovský, Michal ; Toman, Prokop (advisor) ; Kalina, Jaroslav (referee)
The purpose of this work is to provide a view of the situation in high speed Internet connection in the Czech Republic in comparison with the situation in other countries. At the beginning we present connection possibilities and actual supply of these services in the Czech Republic. This is followed by a comparison of the Internet connection supply in the Czech Republic with available supplies in two other selected countries. One country is a member state of the European Union -- Austria, and the other country is a state located outside the EU -- Canada. This study does not only compare technological aspects, but takes into consideration the economic situation of individual countries as well. Comparative criteria are described in detail in the corresponding chapter. Finally, there is an evaluation of the results and a reflection on possible future developments.

Facebook Phenomena in Today's Communication
Mareš, Jakub ; Pavlíček, Antonín (advisor) ; Kalina, Jaroslav (referee)
Transdisciplinary focused work concentrates on communication on the social network Facebook. Firstly, the author puts forward a theoretical introduction to social communication and afterwards to communication on social networks. The thesis introduces the concept of New Media and Web 2.0 as the essential platform for the full development of the potential of Facebook. Further, the author discusses the term Online Social Networks and the definition of Social Capital. With the help of the former and latter the author demonstrates the rightfulness of people social ties; i.a. on the Small-World theory. The subsequent analysis is dedicated to Pages and Groups, which appear o Facebook. On sampled examples the author examines the content of communicated messages, the motivation people have to join such Groups and Pages and the overlap this activity has in the real world.
Comparison of standards for process modeling
Kalina, Jaroslav ; Řepa, Václav (advisor) ; Smolík, Jan (referee)
The scope of this thesis is the field of business process modeling and additionally the usability of business process models in areas like conceptual analysis of IS/ICT, business process reengineering and business process management. For the purpose of evaluation of the usability of current standards for business process modeling, an framework for comparison of various characteristics of these standards is proposed. This thesis has two aims. Primarily, to develop an approach for evaluation of business process modeling standards, and as a secondary aim, to apply this evaluation model onto a set of selected standards for business process modeling and thus perform a comparison of these standards. The evaluation model has two main components. The first part is to create a set of characteristics which represent two existing points of view onto the exploitability business process modeling (e.g. during the development of IS/ICT and during BPR/BPM1). During the identification of particular characteristics, a research into the related literature and other sources has been performed to provide a sufficient basis for this activity. The second part of the developed approach is to the application of PEMM (Process & Enterprise Maturity Model), which was developed by Dr. M. Hammer for the purpose os auditing the maturity of business processes. Both of these parts are then put together into one evaluation framework. Based on information gathered from the respective specifications of particular standards, related literature and articles, we've performed an application of this evaluation framework on three standards for business process modeling: EPC, BPMN and IDEF3. The benefits of this thesis could be seen as a creation of a very own approach for evaluation of business process modeling standards. Additionally by performing the comparison of these three standards for business process modeling we've created a guideline which could be there fore applied by the potential reader during the decision making of what standard to use for business process modeling (in the context of expected purpose of this modeling).
Extension of UML
