The theoretical part provides the basic information about the development of the dependence on alcohol, a prevention and treatment of alcoholism. I also deal with the concequence of the alcohol consumption on health and life of patients with the alcohol dependence, the communication with these patients and problems of nursing. The empiric part analyses the interrogatory survey, that investigates experience of nurses with the treatment of patients with the alcohol dependence. The aim of my work was to find out, how the date of the alcoholic abuse influences the approach of nurses, their communication and the provided nursing.
The history and development of nursing in the military hospital in Brno

The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis is focused on establishment Military hospital in Brno and its historical events. The conditions of hospital wards are described during the years 1968 - 1988 to the present in more details. The practical part includes qualitative research, which was performed by semi - structured interview. This interview captures the opinions of one doctor a four nurses about changes in labour conditions, education of nurses and their actual role in society.

It is divided into two parts. The first one, theoretical, explains the main concepts related to newborn jaundice, such as the newborn period, hyperbilirubinaemia, blood groups, or nursing care. It defines and describes causes, symptoms, diagnostics, treatment and forming factors related to hyperbilirubinaemia. The second, practical part, surveys the nursing care of newborn babies with hyperbilirubinaemia. It also concentrates on creating a standard of the nursing procedure and additional mapping of the frequency of hyperbilirubinaemia at the newborn department of the hospital in Litomyšl during the year 2009.

Medieval guardianship and its importance for the present

Key words: Middle Ages, 13th century, guardianship, religious orders, the woman in the Middle Ages, St. Agnes of Bohemia, St. Zdislava of Lemberk, nun This bachelor's thesis deals with the beginning of guardianship in the Czech lands in the 13th century, the standing of women in the Middle Ages and important women in the history of guardianship, above all Zdislava of Lemberk and Agnes of Bohemia. It maps their fates, work and legacy for the future. It also compares the life of both female saints with the way of life of a nun nowadays. In this context, the thesis also provides an overview of religious orders which devoted their work to charity and care for the ill in the 13th century. It tries to uncover the common and differing traits of medieval guardianship with the current concept of nursing care. The focal point of the thesis is made up of qualitative research, which uncovers the period problems in contrast with the present day. The benefit of this thesis should be to find differences and common traits in care for the ill at that time and today and the legacy left to us by the 13th century. It should also serve as a reminder of the wealth of history of the nursing profession and to increase the prestige and pride they themselves have in their career.

The Problems of Nurses returning to Work after Maternity or Parental Leave

56 My B.A. thesis entitled "The Problems of Nurses returning to Work after Maternity or Parental Leave" tries to map out the difficulties that nurses usually encounter during the process of returning to work. One of thesis's aims is to defne the nature of the problems facing nurses when returning to the work-place. What interested me was whether motherhood can influence the choice of work-place and what the chances are for the nurses to return to the same position at work. The related question that I examine is up to which point can the professional life be combined with the personal life and how can the nurses keep up with their futher education and qualification during their maternal or parental leave. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the family history, parenthood and motherhood, discrimination in the work-place and the options of care for a small child generally available. I also try to consider the factors influencing the return of women to their professions and the specific characteristics of the nursing professions. The empirical part of my thesis is presented as a piece of qualitative research, in which, on the basis of semi-structured dialogues with five correspondents, I try to describe the situation facing them after their return to work.
