Application of FTIR methods and the use of chemometry in the field of soil contamination by plastics and microplastics
Dvořáková, Alena ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This final thesis deals with application FTIR method and the use of chemometry in the field of the identification of microplastics in soil. A total of 3 FTIR techniques were used, DRIFT and ATR operating in the mid-infrared region and TANGO technique operating in the near-infrared region. Mixtures of model soil and PET of different concentrations were prepared for analysis. In addition, mixtures of real soil samples and PET of different concentrations were prepared. The obtained data were used for interpretation of the infrared spektra, construction of calibration and correlation dependencies of PET and evaluation of validation models using DRIFT, ATR and TANGO methods.
Assessment of contamination in selected locations of Valašské Meziříčí
Dunajská, Sabina ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This thesis deals with soil contamination caused by heavy metals in the region of Valašské Meziříčí. The metals analysed were cadmium, chromium, copper, iron, mercury, manganese, nickel, lead, zinc. Metals were determined in 34 samples. The analyses were performed using AMA-254 and AAS methods. Contamination indices were used to assess the contaminated sites and health risks were also assessed.
Application of FTIR methods for the determination of microplastics in soils
Vishneuskaya, Ulyana ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the application of methods of infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and thermal analysis (py-GC/MS) for the determination of microplastics in soil. Part of the thesis is an analysis of the current state of knowledge in the field of occurrence of microplastics in the terrestrial environment, their transmission in the soil and potential risks. The experimental part includes the preparation of samples of a mixture of model soil and PET of different concentrations and their analysis using ATR-FTIR and further isolation of PET from the samples by density separation and analysis by the py-GC/MS method. Based on the correlation coefficients, which show the ratio between the measured and actual values, it was considered that ATR-FTIR is more suitable for qualitative and quantitative analysis of microplastics in soil, and therefore this method was used to evaluate real soil samples with PET.
The Educational Role of the Václav Havel Library
Pavlovský, Jakub ; Veteška, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kříž, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with the educational role of the Václav Havel Library, i.e. its role in the field of adult education. There are several objectives of the thesis. In addition to introducing the library, analysing and characterising the cultural and civic impact of this institution on adult individuals who have attended at least five educational events in a one-year period, it is also to identify its impact on the development of democratic culture. The thesis also characterises the civic education of adults and their civic competences and describes the role of the Václav Havel Library within the framework of cultural andragogy, a field that is both approached and described in its historical context and through contemporary means. The aim of cultural andragogy is to support adults in acquiring cultural values and meeting the needs of self- realisation. Other cultural institutions involved in civic and leisure education of adults have an essential place in this thesis. The above objectives are linked in the research part and analysed through interviews and open coding method to show the effect of the activities of the Václav Havel Library on the visitors. The results of the research show that the Václav Havel Library is an important facilitator of the conscious and unconscious process of inclusion of...
Wage discrimination of the European players in the NHL
Pavlovský, Jakub ; Červinka, Michal (advisor) ; Kolář, Daniel (referee)
This thesis analyses the wage discrimination against the European players in the National Hockey League (NHL). There were some results in the past litera- ture acknowledging the existence of discrimination in the NHL. The main goal of this thesis is to examine the discrimination in the NHL using new data from season 2020-2021. Another goal is to extend past literature by including the models for goalkeepers because they were omitted in most of the literature, and by using modern advanced statistics to better analyse the players' skills. The method used to analyse the relationship between dependent and independent variables is linear regression. OLS is used to estimate the coefficients of the created models. The estimation of the created models arrives at an unexpected conclusion. There is no discrimination against European or Russian skaters in the NHL. But there is positive discrimination against Russian goalkeepers in the league. JEL Classification C01, C12, C21, C51, J30, Z20 Keywords Country, NHL, OLS, Salary Title Wage discrimination of the European players in the NHL
Interactions between microplastics and heavy metals in the aquatic environment
Ottová, Michaela ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the adsorption of heavy metal ions on the microplastic. Specifically, lead, chromium, zinc, copper, mercury and polyethylene terephthalate was chosen as the plastic representative. Atomic absorption spectrometry (F-AAS, AMA) and FTIR with method ATR were used for the analysis. The aim of this work was to perform selected adsorption experiments, to determine the adsorption kinetics and the maximum amount adsorbed. Subsequently, the most suitable kinetic and isothermal model was determined for each element and the characteristic parameters were calculated.

Use of pollution indices for evaluation of soil contamination
Čmelíková, Dorota ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This thesis focuses on heavy metal contamination of soil and the use of pollution indices for its evaluation. Two regions were selected for assessment and comparison. The chosen heavy metals were mercury, zinc, copper, lead and cadmium. These heavy metals were analysed in 15 samples from Kyjov nad 15 samples from Ostrava. Methods of analysis were AMA-254 and FAAS. The established concentrations were used to calculate pollution indices and for health risk assessment. Pollution in Kyjov was assessed as low to medium without any health risks. Ostrava region was assessed as moderately to highly polluted with a low health risk, especially for children.
FTIR analysis of soils containing plastics and microplastics
Sinčáková, Lenka ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the sources of microplastics in soils, their potential toxicity for men as well as the environment and soil-plastic interaction. It provides an overview of methods that are commonly used for qualitative and quantitative characterisation of microplastics in soils with focus on FTIR spectrometry. In the experimental part, real soil samples were evaluated with the use of ATR-FTIR based on model soils-microplastics mixtures calibrations. Vaidation models for model mixtures and carbon content were also evaluated.
Assessment of soils using pollution indices
Satola, Ondřej ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
Subject of this diploma thesis is analysis of selected heavy metals in soils which are exposed to long-time cause of contaminants from metallurgical industry in localities Třinec and Ostrava. For assessment of the contamination, indexes for evaluation of soils were chosen. Those indexes are focusing mainly on rate of enrichment of the soils by selected heavy metals and resulting ecological and possibly health risk for human organism. Within every location, 26 samples were extracted, while every sample extract location, were selected to map the level of pollution around metallurgical plants in the most complex way. The analysis of the samples was done by techniques F-AAS and AMA 254 and established metals were mercury, lead, copper, chrome, nickel, manganese and zinc.
