The role of social capital in development of periphery areas: An example of local action groups in the Český Krumlov region

This master thesis focuses on factors concerning the quality of cooperation between municipalities and regions with emphasis on the influence of local actors. The case study focuses specifically on the Local Action Groups (LAG)s within the Český Krumlov region. We applied the concept of social capital as a tool to clarify the importance of endogenous conditions of regions, and endogenous factors that influence the quality of cooperation between personalities and institutions. The concept of social capital has gained the attention of foreign and Czech researchers during the last twenty years and it is considered to be an important element of comprehensive regional development. The research was held in two phases. The first phase was a pilot analysis based on publicly available sources. We compared scores of LAGs based on various factors including their success in grant applications. Based on information collected from this, we continued the research in the form of structured interviews with key actors in concerned LAGs. The structure of these interviews followed chosen aspects of social capital, such as social networking and cooperation between personalities. Burial culture in the Western world in the context of sociopolitical transformation

This dissertation is focused on changes in burial culture in the modern and post-modern era resulting from the introduction of cremation as a new part of burial practices in Western countries. Its aim is to analyze changes in burial culture in the context of social and political developments and through their physical effects on the landscape. In order to evaluate contemporary burial culture in the Western world, the main cause of changes in burial culture was first separately analyzed as a phenomenon that appeared (the conditions for the origins of cremation) and expanded in geographical space (the circumstances under which cremation was adapted in Western countries). The diffusion of innovations theory is used, which is capable of describing and interpreting the process of introducing cremation in its modern form. In the second phase of research, specific manifestations of changes in burial culture caused by the introduction of cremation are examined based on case studies conducted in the field. Place of Pilgrimage as a Part of Identity of the Region: an Example of Stará Boleslav

The thesis deals with the role and significance of pilgrimage Stará Boleslav in shaping territorial identity. Even in today's secularized society pilgrimage sites still attract people's attention. The importance and status of pilgrimage are discussed both at the regional level and at the local level, attention is paid to its importance to the community or other organizations. Further, a pilgrimage site in terms of its use of religious and secular activities. It was found that the pilgrimage site Stará Boleslav is not a significant factor in shaping regional identity but in shaping local identity and perhaps even national identity. Region as an institution ie in terms of the region it unlike community perceive as important. For believers, it is a place of pilgrimage Stará Boleslav very important but even people without religion is a place of pilgrimage well perceived although they view it primarily from a historical perspective. The objective of bacalary work is to demarcate a Chodsko region for using in tourism sphere with the conservation of etnographic aspect of region. It is there dealing with a question of tourist profile, tourist behaviour and his influence to local environment. A socio- cultural environment is threated through negative tourism phenomenons and processes. Positive tourism phenomenons and processes reinforce a socio-cultural environment and help to keep a local traditions. Definition of folklore tourism and determing of folklore tourism spatial distribution and concentration are objectives of my work. Further, I devote to characteristics of social capital as the aspect of folklore tourism development. I outline further touristic influences to sociocultural environment. Thereafter, I apply these teoretic knowledges to Chodsko region, which I try to define through several different views. Chod etnographic festival in Domažlice occupy an important role in the folklore tourism in Chodsko region, therefore I devote to this etnographic festival further. Further, I devote to characteristics of Chodsko region visitors in the case study.
Transformation of the Cinema Infrastructure in the Czech Republic in 1989-2009

The presented thesis deals with the description of the infrastructure of the cinemas and their location in the Czech Republic in the period of 1989-2009. Special attention is given to the process of transformation of filmmaking and the course of privatization of the cinema industry. The second part is devoted to the development process in terms of number of cinemas, their concentration with regard to the regions and also the distribution of particular types of the cinema within the Czech Republic. Further, two specific types of cinemas are being compared - the cinema complexes and art cinemas. Comparison is made in terms of their general location, their placement within the city and their dramaturgy. On the map attached at the end of the thesis one can see the development and concentration of cinema complexes in the area of the Czech Republic beginning with the openning of the first complex and ending in the year 2009. Tourism promotion in protected areas: case study the Šumava National Park

The work deals with the promotion of tourism in protected areas with the example of the Šumava National Park. This geografic fairly complicated region, which is developing in the area of nature protection management, is looking for one of the appropriate ways to develop even in the 21st century. Tourism is one of the possible variations thanks to natural conditions and existing tourism infrastructure. The Bachelor thesis introduces the importance of this sector in the Šumava Mountains, suitable forms of tourism in protected areas and specific projects to promote tourism in light of selected groups of actors operating in the monitored area. The field survey work contains the interview with local development officials and representatives of the Ministry of Environment on the issue of environmental management of tourism in the Šumava National Park.
ABILITY TO OBTAIN GRANT TITLES IN SELECTED RURAL MUNICIPALITIES

Ability to obtain grant titles in selected rural municipalities Abstract An important theme of the Member States of the European Union is rural development. For the Czech Republic, this topic became current after accession to the EU in 2004. In previous years, the Czech Republic had the opportunity to benefit from pre-accession programs (e.g. PHARE, SAPARD) in the period 2004-2006 to use all the tools for the development of European countryside. The uniqueness of the programming period 2007-2013 is the ability to draw funds in the entire length of the programming period, and a wide range of support. The bachelor thesis deals with the cause of the success of profit grant titles of the Rural Development Programme, Operational Programme for Environment and Regional Operation Programme NUTS II Southwest. Its aim is to analyze the influence of the causes for profit grant titles of selected programs and determine whether appearance, geographic location, and civic and technical facilities of the municipalities affects the volume of money obtained from grant titles. Attention is focused on the municipalities district Klatovy in size of 500-999 people. Necrogeographical Research of Czechia: Basic Character and Spatial Differentiation of Necrogeographical Aspects in Czechia with Emphasis on their Relation to Religion

Martina Hupková - Nekrogeografický výzkum Česka ABSTRACT: Diploma thesis is concerned with theme of death, which has been left out by Czech geography till now. There is a tendency to make theme of death taboo in Czech society, nevertheless a manner of treatment with death is a sign of cultural maturity and is changing in space and time. Necrogeographical aspects - a manner of treatment with death and forms of cemeteries reflect a culture in different regional divisions (state, region, locality). Thesis is engaged in discussion about possibilities of necrogeographical research in Czechia and the investigative part of thesis is engaged in necrogeographical analysis. Interfacial areas between religion and a way of burying are searched for in thesis because of presumed influence of religion on a manner of treatment with death. Dependence of a way of burying on religion is evaluated on level of world's nations and micro-regions of Czechia. Spatial differentiation of necrogeographical aspects within Czechia is analyzed via field surveys of model regions. Cemeteries are considered from two points of view - as objects in space and as a culture reflecting phenomenons.
