Bílý, Jan ; Campbell, Jan (advisor) ; Valášek, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on approach of Czech corporate management to coaching. The coaching and mentoring of people has become a trending topic lately. Coaching allows us not only to discover a potential within ourselves but also to release it fully. On the basis of qualitative research, the thesis analyses the benefits of coaching for the coached person, from the point of view of the coach, the ordering party and of the coached person him/herself using the self-assessing scales. According to the results, the most important asset for the coached person is higher autonomy and responsibility for one's work. From the manager's point of view, coaching helps promoting better communication, openness and also a possibility to praise and acknowledge employees and subordinates in a better way. The final part of the thesis evaluates the fulfillment of the laid down objectives.

Zaitseva, Alina ; Campbell, Jan (advisor) ; Černoch, Felix (referee)
My diploma paper deals with the monocities theme. Under monocities there are understood cities with a mono-thematic economy structure. Nowadays there are a lot of issues in the monocities as well as social and economic questions to be solved. At the beginning the term monocity is defined and included into historical connections, an attention is also paid to the future trends. I also tried to offer some proposals how to solve the situtation. An implementation of the creative industry (as specified in detail here) has been chosen as a preferred way out. To understand this subject better, I have also added a concrete example -- an art café project.
Salary Cap and Its Influence on the NHL Human Resource Management
Calta, Ondřej ; Beroušek, Petr (advisor) ; Campbell, Jan (referee)
This thesis describes the impact of salary restraints adopted by the National Hockey League after the 2004/05 season lock-out on human resource management (especially building of a team) and on a professional ice-hockey labour market. The theoretical part contains a description of all NHL HR management procedures and rules necessary to grasp the following empirical part. Negotiations, which led to formation of the contemporary Collective Bargaining Agreement are also mentioned in this part. The empirical chapters describe concrete impacts of the salary cap, some of which are illustrated in the case study. I ponder the veracity of hockey and economic experts' statements according to statistical evidence. The findings of my thesis point out a significant influence of the salary cap on HR management, concerning the (re)building of an NHL team. There is a growth of the importance of drafted players, while the trade volume of key players decreases. The salary cap also caused a more equal wage distribution at the expense of greatest stars and supported the employment of less experienced players. The thesis should set the basis for a more profound research of the NHL salary cap effects.
