Contemporary society's view of common sense marriages

The thesis "Contemporary society's view of common sense marriages" deals with the problem of two people entering into a marriage. The aim will be to describe the reasons for which people enter into marriages and how their introduction takes place. Another important goal of the thesis is to find out how people view the importance of rational reasons for entering into marriage, how they argue for their importance, and how they "reconcile" rational reasons with emotional and relational reasons. The author has divided the topic into several headings. The first theme will describe relationships and intimacy in society. It is mainly about describing the history of marriages, under what circumstances they were contracted and what their development was also within the evolution of the institution of the family. The second theme of the thesis will be "partner dating" and the theory of mate selection. In this topic the author will also focus on the development of dating advertisements, since dating goes hand in hand with serious relationships and marriages. As a main theme, the discussion will be on contemporary society and its perception of "marriage of convenience".

When it's not "just" about hockey. Hockey championships in the Czech Republic through the eyes of the organizers

"Sport is everywhere and we are in it." These words are the leitmotif of Jiří Černý's book Fotbal je hra. Pokus o fenomenologii fotbalu. In this text, Černý points out the significance of sports and sports games in modern culture. At present, we are witnessing an ever-growing interest in sport from the perspective of various scientific disciplines. This dissertation thesis deals with the phenomenon of mega-events, large-scale (not only) sporting events that have broad, society-wide impacts, from a sociological, qualitative perspective. In the Czech context, these are primarily sports competitions of a smaller scale than, for example, the Olympic Games, but which can nevertheless have profound social impacts. Such sports events, which took place in the Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia, undoubtedly became ice-hockey world championships. This dissertation thesis describes the Ice Hockey World Championship, uncharacteristically, through semi-structured interviews with the organizers of the championship from 2004 and 2015. This study is primarily about personal motivations, emotional connections, and personal interpretation of participation in the organization of the hockey championship. Everyday life in the period of socialism in the Podblanicko region

The topic of the thesis deals with everyday life in Podblanicko Region during the socialist era. This is a local research that tries to show the memories of rural people on the period of normalization, defined by the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, in terms of food, clothing and housing. The research deals with the strategies, tactics and improvisations of the inhabitants of this region in the period of socialism, among other things focused on the lack of required goods in shops, poor supply, searching for not very high-quality construction materials and fashionable clothes. Apart from individual expressions, it deals with community style that inherently belongs to the rural population. The era of socialism is strongly ingrained in the mind of the people who lived at that time. It is clear from many sources that before the year 1989 people in the countryside did not live just meaningless lives, remarked and emptied by a totalitarian regime. In many cases, they tried to ignore the regime or they just were not interested in it. In their everyday life they created values, which were more important to them. The dog as a member of the society and family

The work is focused on the issue of relations between people and their dogs in a selected group. Its aim is to present what relationships are created between people and their dogs and if there are such cases when the relationship that has been developed with a dog, replaces, complements or simulates to its owner any of interpersonal relationships. And finally, how such relationships look like and for what reasons can be formed. The work consists of a theoretical part, which includes a chapter summarizing the current state of knowledge of the subject, thus representing the relevant literature and authors who have worked on and written about the same or similar field already. In addition, the chapter briefly describes the history of men and dogs union, moment of their connection and the development of relationships and roles. The work also contains a research part, an empirical survey. The research approach is a qualitative survey, mainly driven by scenarios interviews and observations. Bachelor thesis is focus on the image of demons in ancient Mesopotamia and Sumer, as in literature, so in plastic arts, and following comparation with others region literature, most Bible. In the first part, the thesis is dealing with universal characteristic of individual demons, which is complemented with texts from each myth. It examines the phenomena of Russian imposture from the historic and folkloristic point of view. The folkloristic material comes from Central Russia, Volga Region and Ural region. In conclusion we consider general questions about mentalities, social ideals, utopias and peoples' models.

The building at 18, rue Bonaparte: The place of memory and its meaning for the Czechs living in Paris

Diploma thesis "The building at 18, rue Bonaparte: The place of memory and its meaning for the Czechs living in Paris" deals with the theme of everyday life of the Czechs in Paris which is connected with a place that presents a piece of Czech country inside of the historical Paris. This work tries to show the perception of this place on the basis of material, functional and symbolic meaning of this building. As well it treats the overhangs to the migration studies, memory studies and problems of identity. Constituent of the text is also theoretical embodiment of the concept of a place not only in the ethnology but also in others social and humanity sciences - mainly with the regard to the Pierre Nora's theory "places of memory" and Marc Augé's theory "anthropological places". Apart from the symbolical capital of the building at 18, rue Bonaparte which is important place of memory there is presented in the text also history of another places in France which is a part of collective memory of the compatriots up to now. The main goal of this work is to present how important role can play one concrete physical place with strong functional and symbolic meaning for the Czechs living outside of their homeland and how this place can contribute to the process of integration to the hosting society.

Folk traditions and customs as a mirror of social relations. A comparison of three local communities in eastern Bohemia: Velký Vřešťov - Dubenec - Hustířany

The subject of this thesis is the social and cultural life in three local communities in Eastern Bohemia (Velký Vřešťov, Dubenec, Hustířany). All three localities are situated about 20 km north of Hradec Králové. Their respective populations are 197, 659, and 174. The thesis gives a brief description of the past and the present of these villages, with special focus on institutions (e. g. school) and local organizations. World Wars One and Two and the emergence of the communist regime were the most important events in terms of the impact on the structure of social relations within the communities. The theoretical part of this thesis summarizes the methodological discussions within the Czech ethnography in the second half of the 20th century. The methodological problems of field research and the interpretation of the examined social reality were the primary objects of dispute between two groups of ethnologists. Karel Fojtík and Olga Skalníková were part of the first one; their idea was to use sociological concepts and other methods of social sciences and to promote interdisciplinary studies. The second group is connected with the likes of Ladislav Holý and Milan Stuchlík. Ethical context of sexuality

This thesis deals with moral values of the individuals and their relation to their sexual behaviour. Its aim is not a study of the particular sexual acts, but rather of the moral ideas, which people associate with sexuality and of sources of those ideas. It determines no generally valid ethical principle, which could be followed in sexuality; its aim is to be a probe into the existing ideas of what is good or bad in sex and into the reasons for assessing any given sexual behaviour as good or bad. Furthermore it explores if and how the individuals perceive any change in the attitude of the society to sex and morality, and what is in the centre of their personal ethical concepts. The description of these ideas of good or bad, their sources and a perception of changes in the attitude of society to sexuality are based on the research conducted among citizens of the Czech Republic in 2016 with use of a qualitative strategy. The discovered moral concepts are presented as such they are not compared to any existing ethical system.
