My graduation theses is focuses on development of the harp from ancient era to 20.century. The introduction presents old myths about the origin of harp. Other chapters proceed with Egyptian, Italian and Spanish harps up to harps of our age. Then the manufacturing process and used materials are described. The theses includes a detailed look into the manufactory of a Czech harp maker Rudolf Chvojka and, as a contrast, gives information about one of the biggest harp factories - Lyon & Healy. A part of the theses concerns also the alternative and non- European harps. The aim of my work is to introduce readers in a comprehensive way into the word of harp, its history, development and the basic harp models, as well as the most interesting ones that were created during the long history of this instrument.
