[cze][eng] Po roce 1868 Japonsko přijalo evropský moderní systém, i v oblasti vzdělání. Západní hudba je součástí školního systému a díky tomu se začala rozšířit. Japonský školní systém klade velký důraz na všeobecné vzdělání, zatímco odborné vzdělání je málo rozvinuto. V dnešním Japonsku je možné získat odborné vzdělání v rámci školního vzdělávání od věku 16 let. Nyní existuje mnoho hudebních škol a příliš mnoho studentů se také specializuje na západní hudbu. Avšak praktická výuka hry na nástroj není zaměřena na výchovu "profesionálních" hudebníků, a úroveň na hudebních školách v Japonsku je velmi rozdílná. Lze říci, že japonská hudební škola zcela ustrnula. V posledních letech je usilováno o školní reformy, nejenom reformy osnov a oborů ale i rozšíření hudebních žánrů. Jednotlivé hudební školy uplatňují různé postupy v rámci úsilí přilákat studenty.After 1868 Japan adopted a modern European system of all parties in the field of education.
