Tato práce se zabývá postavou satana, tak jak je reflektována v patristice. Vzhledem k tomu, že obsah tohoto pojmu není zcela přesně definován a existuje více slov, která mají téměř totožný význam, je první kapitola věnována etymologickému rozboru tohoto slova. V druhé kapitole se nachází rozbor otázky, kdo je nazýván církevním otcem a krátké životopisné údaje vybraných autorů. Ve třetí kapitole se nachází rozbor postavy satana v díle Augustina Aurelia O boží obci. Čtvrtá kapitola se zabývá Origenovým pojetím tématu v díle O počátcích, jak jej reflektuje Endre von Ivánka. Pátá kapitola je zaměřena na Tertullianovu knihu O hrách a pojetí satana v ní. This work deals with substance of satan as it is reflected in patristic. Due to fact, that the meaning of word satan is not clearly defined and there is more words with similar meaning, is in first chapter etymological analysis of word satan. In second chapter there is analysis of question, who can be called church father and a brief information about life of selected writers. In third chapter is situated analysis of satan in book of Augustinus Aurelius De civitate dei. Fourth chapter deals with substance of satan in book of Origenes De principiís as it is reflected by Endre von Ivánka in Plato christianus. Fifth chapter is focused on substance of satan in book About games by Tertullianus.
