This bachelor thesis discusses the life and works of Richard Wagner and his first three operas which depict the musical and dramatic developments of early Wagner. The works being analysed are; his romantic opera Die Feen, his Das Liebesverbot which was influenced by Opéra Comique and his tragic opera Rienzi. Wagner worked on these during the time period from 1833 to 1842. I could not omit Wagner?s first unfinished opera Die Hochzeit which I also discuss in this thesis.
In this work I observe these operas from several view-points ? historical, musically?dramatic form and dramatic content.
