Abstract: Práce zachycuje možné cesty budoucího vývoje městských nemocnic, o kterých rozhodují orgány měst jako jejich zřizovatelé. Příklad čtyřech transformovaných nemocnic ukazuje různé důvody a příčiny těchto rozhodnutí. Dále je obsažena analýza technické efektivnosti a dalších faktorů, které by mohly mít vliv na efektivnost městských nemocnic.
