The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the situation in the Czech republic from different points of view. At the beginning of the essay I write about the Theory of Optimal Currency Areas because it is connected with the topic very closely. But the central point of the thesis is the second chapter, where is described the evaluation of the situation in our state and his comparison with other member states or euroarea. Firstly, I devote to opinions of Czech inhabitants about the task of acceptation euro. Then I pay attention to the Maastricht criteria. Their performance is necessary for becoming a member of the EMU. Other important criteria are so called real convergence criteria. The last part of the chapter describes the "českolipská" criteria, suggested by Václav Klaus, which answer the following question: "When is it advantageous for the Czech republic to become a member of the EMU?" At the end are added the advantages and disadvantages connected with membership in The EMU.
