Práce analyzuje vztah mezi cenami pohonných hmot a nehodovostí v České republice v letech 1999-2009. Jelikož jízda větším automobilem bývá spojena s vyšší spotřebou pohonných hmot, je možné očekávat, že pokud se zvýší ceny nafty a benzínu, přejdou lidé k menším automobilům nižší spotřeby, které jim však poskytují nižší bezpečí, a tato změna se tedy projeví i do nehodovosti. Prvním krokem je na základě regresní analýzy dokázat, že počet jednotlivých velikostních kategorií automobilů má vliv na smrtelné nehody na silnicích. Pomocí regresní analýzy je zde prokázána statisticky významná závislost mezi změnami vozového parku a nehodovosti, přičemž se ukazuje, že počet usmrcených klesá s rostoucím počtem automobilů vyšší hmotnosti. Dále práce zkoumá, zda jsou prodeje automobilů ovlivněny cenami nafty a benzínu. Regresní analýza neprokazuje, že by existoval statisticky významný vliv cen pohonných hmot na prodeje automobilů, a za sledované období nelze tedy tvrdit, že by vláda snižovala svým zdaněním pohonných hmot bezpečnost na silnicích. This thesis analyzes the impact of changes in gas prices on road fatal accidents in the Czech Republic between 1999 - 2009. The use of heavier cars is connected with higher gas consumption that we can expect from the increasing fuel prices that will lead to a substitution of heavier cars by smaller cars. This substitution offers lower level of safety to its user. The first part of the analyze is focused on the link between changes in the size structure of cars in the Czech Republic and the fatalities. Regression analyze shows a significant link between this variables and it leads to a fact that number of people killed in an accident decreases by increase of heavier and decrease of lighter cars. The second part of the analyze is focused on the price of gas - are sales influenced by the price or not? The analyze does not prove this influence is statistically significant. The period observed is not a proof that the government is influencing the fatalities by fuel taxes.
