Na přelomu tisíciletí byla vydána kniha Astropolitik: Classical Geopolitics in the Space, pocházející od amerického autora Everetta C. Dolmana. Předmětná kniha byla následně považována za průlomové dílo ve strategickém uvažování nad vesmírnou doménou, nicméně historie geopolitického uvažování má s takovými průkopnickými díly řadu rozporuplných zkušeností. Jak ve zkoušce časem obstálo Dolmanovo dílo je klíčovou otázkou této disertační práce, což je zkoumáno skrze obsáhlou analýzu knihy Astropolitik zasazených do skutečností dnešních vesmírných aktivit. Postupně je věnována pozornost třem ústředním tematickým segmentům, přičemž prvním z nich je rozbor Dolmanova teoretického přístupu ke geopolitickému uvažování nad vesmírem skrze použité základní principy, načež je uvažováno nad jeho korelací a vlivem ve vztahu k současnému výzkumu. Druhá část je zaměřená na Dolmanovou topografickou projekci vesmíru ve vztahu k jeho geodeterministickým představám, které jsou následně porovnávány s praxí vesmírných aktérů, čímž jsou získávány odpovědi o relevanci této části Astropolitik. V neposlední řadě dochází k rozboru Astropolitik z perspektivy vesmírné moci a její aplikace do tří vytyčených domén, mezi něž se řadí civilní, bezpečnostní a environmentální část. Práce se neusiluje o prostou deskripci či hodnocení... At the brink of the millennium, the book Astropolitik: Classical Geopolitics in the Space Age was published by the American author Everett C. Dolman. The book in question was subsequently considered as a ground-breaking work in strategic thinking about the outer space domain; however, the history of geopolitical thinking has a number of ambivalent experiences with such pioneering works. How Dolman's work has stood the test of time is the key question of this dissertation, which is examined through a comprehensive analysis of the book Astropolitik situated in the reality of contemporary space activities. Three core thematic segments are sequentially explored, starting with an analysis of Dolman's theoretical approach to geopolitical thinking about outer space through its fundamental principles, followed by a consideration of its correlation and influence in relation to contemporary geopolitical research. The second part focuses on Dolman's topographical projection of the outer space in relation to his geodeterministic ideas, which are then compared with the practices of space actors, thus providing answers about the relevance of this part of Astropolitik.
